Over 300 Fixed-Dose Combination Drugs Banned By Health Ministry
The health ministry has banned 328 fixed-dose combination or FDC drugs including household brands like Saridon on the grounds that the ingredients in these medicines do not markedly add to the benefits that people can get from taking them. The order immediately bans the manufacture, marketing and sale of several common cough syrups, painkillers, and cold and flu drugs. The country's drug advisory body, the Drug Technical Advisory Board or DTAB, has said there is no therapeutic justification for the ingredients contained in the 328 FDCs and they must be banned in public interest. Psychiatric Drugs—Search Warnings, Studies, & Side Effects
See for yourself - Antidepressants - http://bit.ly/15JKaZk ADHD drugs http://bit.ly/13nH1Em Antipsychotics http://bit.ly/16eJ6Al Antianxiety drugs http://bit.ly/13nHgiT Or, do an advanced search on the drug database https://www.cchrint.org/psychdrugdangers/ Note: The information given on these pages are not opinion - they are international drug regulatory agency warnings, peer reviewed studies and FDA medwatch reports which represent the only post market surveillance available on psychiatric drugs, considering the FDA approves psychiatric drugs based solely on short term clinical drug trials (6-8 weeks) with no follow up studies once they are out in the consumer market. No one should attempt to get off of psychiatric drugs without doctor's supervision. This information is provided as a free public service by CCHR International, which contains a full list of international drug regulatory warnings & studies issued on antidepressant drugs, antipsychotic drugs, anti-anxiety drugs and ADHD drugs, along with all adverse reaction reports on psychiatric drugs which have been filed with the US FDA from 2004 - 2011 by doctors, pharmacists, other healthcare providers, consumers and attorneys. This search engine essentially comprises all known, documented risks of psychiatric drugs. It does not contain opinion, just documented studies, warnings and post market data. You can search drug classes or brand name drugs such as Adderall, Zoloft, Xanax, Paxil, Risperdal and hundreds more.

Why are generic drugs cheaper? | By Ishan [Hindi]
Why are generic drugs cheaper? | By Ishan [Hindi] For developing a formula of a branded drug it requires lots of investments for research and development. In order to get that investments back they will charge more within that patent time, once the patent time is over any one can produce that medicine with same formula. So the cost of that medicine includes all costs incurred to develop the drug and benefits of the manufacturer. When it comes to Generic drug all that R&D costs will not be there so the generic drugs are cheaper. In India very few people are aware of this generic medicines, because of which people are spending more money on their medicines. That’s why recently Indian Government and The Medical Council of India (MCI) has mandated that generic names of drugs would have to be mentioned along with the brands in prescriptions to patients because there are so many medicines which are available in generics. Indian government is also encouraging the use of generic medicines by establishing some Jan Aushadhi Medical Stores in India and nowadays large number of retail generic outlets are appearing in the market and also there are some players who are selling generic medicines online like genericwala. I have switched over to buying generic medicines rather than the branded medicines and i usually order it online because it is cheaper and convenient for me. How Do Drugs Get Their Names?
Who names drugs? Why all the funny names? A number of months ago, we did an episode on how a drug comes to market with the help of out HCT intern, pharmD student Rachel Hoffman. She also helped us out with our episode on Flibanserin. We get a lot of questions from you about drugs. What's the difference between a generic and name brand drug? How do people feel about them? What's the difference with biologics? With her help, we're going to tackle those in the upcoming weeks. Let's start at the beginning. What's in a name? That which we call a drug. By any other name would be so . . . effective? Brand name and generic drugs: are there any differences? Who regulates them? And what's with all the names anyway? That's the topic of today's HealthCare Triage.
