5. Oracle database Installation With ASM: Install database software & Create database.

09:59
Automatic Storage Management (ASM) is a feature that has be introduced in Oracle 10g to simplify the storage of Oracle datafiles, controlfiles, logfiles and backups. ASM will be used as the file system and volume manager for Oracle Database files (data, online redo logs, control files, archived redo logs), and the Fast Recovery Area. NOTE: ASMLib in the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. ASMLib – Linux specific ASM library and its associated driver. The Oracle ASMLib kernel driver is now included in the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. No driver package needs to be installed when using this kernel. The oracleasm-support and oracleasmlib packages still need to be installed. The oracleasm-support can be installed from Oracle Linux ISO image. For other Linux flavors could be found here – (Download section for particular Linux distribution) The oracleasmlib can be downloaded from ULN (Unbreakable Linux Network), subscription is required. Non-subscribers are free to use the similar package built for RHEL on their Enterprise Linux machines, which we will use in this tutorial. Action plan: 1. Installing Oracle Enterprise Linux and creating virtual hard disks in VMware for ASM disks 2. Creating recommended OS groups and user for Grid Infrastructure 3. Creating login scripts for grid and oracle users 4. Installing Oracle ASM packages 5. Creating ASM disk volumes 6. Downloading and installing Oracle Grid Infrastructure software 7. Creating ASM disk groups 8. Installing Oracle database software and create database instance

Oracle Solaris Root Mirror

08:48
Root Mirror Mirroring is a concept in Oracle Solaris to create redundancy between two or more hard disks. In this tutorial, I am gonna setup root mirror in such a way that if one of the disks fail for whatever reason, the operating system can be booted from the other disk. Requirements We have two servers each with following hardware and software. SPARC S7-2. 254 GB RAM. 5 Ethernet Interfaces (net0, net1, net2, net3 & net4). 4 Disks, each of around 500 GB. Oracle Solaris 11. OSC repository ISO image. Howto To begin with, I have logged in the server as root user. If Oracle Solaris is installed with ZFS filesystem, then a ZPOOL called "rpool" is created by default. If the OS is installed with UFS filesystem then it has to be converted into ZFS filesystem before proceeding. Since I am on SPARC server with Oracle Solaris v11, the former is setup by default. Executing the following command will show us the status of the default ZPOOL. List the available disks which can be used for adding in "rpool". Disks can be listed like so. Out of the list, I selected the second disk. Make sure that the selected disk is empty or with no useful data. It is not mandatory that we should select the next disk in sequence. Next, we attach the newly selected disk to the pool of existing disks, in this case, the default disk which is already in the pool. The syntax to attach the disk is shown below. Once the disk is added to the pool, resilvering begins. What is resilvering you ask ? Well, the process of moving data from one device to another device is known as resilvering. Its status can be checked using the same command which is given above but with the option of giving the pool name. Wait till the resilvering completes and the "state" turns from "Degraded" to "Online" like so. And we are done. It's that simple folks. Get more tutorials on http://www.nixfury.com

Migrating to Microservice Databases: From Relational Monolith to Distributed Data - Edson Yanaga

01:04:52
In a Microservices architecture with multiple moving parts we can’t allow that a single complement downtime breaks down the entire system. Dealing with stateless code is easy, but it gets much harder when we have to deal with persistent state. In this scenario, zero downtime migrations are paramount to guarantee integrity and consistency. Within all the Microservices characteristics, undoubtedly the one that creates more perplexity is the “one database per Microservice”. However, very few teams have the privilege of starting something from scratch: most of the times they have a legacy database that will survive any new implementation. In legacy systems you traditionally have a model that adopts transactions and CRUD. Now we must reassess some of these concepts. In this talk we’ll discuss consistency, CRUD and CQRS, Event Sourcing, and how these techniques relate to each other in many different integration strategies for databases. We’ll explore Views, Materialized Views, Mirror Tables, Event Sourcing, Data Virtualization, Change Data Capture, and how these strategies enable you to build up a Microservices architecture from a legacy monolithic relational database. Hey guys, I am Nick and welcome to educ8s.tv a channel that is all about DIY electronics projects with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP8266 and other popular boards. Today's project is very important and extremely useful because we will learn how to store data online! I am using a Raspberry Pi 3 board along with the Sense Hat. The Sense Hat is an add-on board for the Raspberry Pi, which offers many sensors, including a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, a barometric pressure sensor and many more. -------------------- WHERE TO BUY -------------------- Raspberry Pi: http://educ8s.tv/part/Raspberry3 Sense Hat: http://educ8s.tv/part/SenseHat Power Bank: http://educ8s.tv/part/Powerbank Wemos D1 mini: http://educ8s.tv/part/D1Mini -------------------- BLUEHOST WEBSERVER -------------------- Bluehost: http://bit.ly/BluehostAccount Full disclosure: All of the links above are affiliate links. I get a small percentage of each sale they generate. Thank you for your support! The Raspberry Pi every 10 minutes, measures the temperature, the humidity and the barometric pressure and sends the data via WiFi in a remote webserver which stores them in a MySQL database. We can see all the data from anywhere in the world simply by visiting a web page which displays all the data in a simple table. As you can see I have let the Raspberry Pi to run for a couple of hours and I can see all the data along with the time of each measurement. Cool isn't it? Let's now see how to build this project. The hardware setup is really simple. All we need is a Raspberry Pi and a Sense Hat board. The cost of the project is around $80. Let's now see the software of the project. The code of the project consists of two parts, the Raspberry Pi code, and the server code. First we are going to examine the Server Code. Of course, you must have a web server available. Since 2006 I use bluehost as my hosting provider and I host all my websites there. If you don't have a webserver available with around 4$ per month you can have your own bluehost account. You can find a link for it in the description of the video. Of course, you can use any other host you like, I use bluehost for over 10 years that's why I recommend it. -------------------- CODE OF THE PROJECT -------------------- http://educ8s.tv/raspberry-pi-online-weather-log -------------------- FACT OR FICTION 2018 Quiz Game -------------------- You can download my latest Android Game which is called Fact or Fiction 2018 here: 📥 http://bit.ly/FactOrFiction2018 -------------------- MORE PROJECTS -------------------- Arduino Datalogger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oei3Y6tOhVI Arduino Weather Station Project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jN-3DtS1RI Arduino Nokia 5110 LCD Display: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDwrMeu4k9Y Arduino OLED display tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9EwJ7M7OsI DIY Arduino: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npc3uzEVvc0 -------------------- ABOUT EDUC8S.TV -------------------- Educ8s.tv is a Youtube channel and website which is dedicated in developing high quality videos about DIY hardware and software projects.
