Your Brand Reputation: Under Your Control or Not?
Please watch: "Gary Vaynerchuk's Using It for Brand Growth. Shouldn't You?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKvb8ISN0Pg --~-- #reputation #brandstory Every industry has what we all know as "reputation baggage." The type of baggage we all know as history, habits, “rep,” and, the worst of all, preconceived notions before you have ever shown up. That’s like someone who’s know your siblings to make their mind of you based on having had experience (good or bad) with them. Every industry has it. Every job position has it. Every neighborhood has it. Every city has it. But here, we’re only talking about your career, your chosen profession, the industry you have adopted to be your place to make your mark and leave your dent. Your first barrier: the reputation of the industry you’ve chosen. -------------------------- In these One Minute Wednesdays, I cover branding, marketing, design, rebranding, brand story, storytelling, strategy and growth hacking for business owners, entrepreneurs and those who refuse to blend out, and instead want to stand out. How does arguing online hurt your reputation offline?
https://waitwhatreallyok.com/ https://CWealthC.com/ How does arguing online hurt your reputation offline? Brand Awareness for your rep. The Podcast video supplement for iHeartRadio’s branding podcast Wait What Really Ok Episode 59 hosted by Keynote Speaker and Branding Strategist Loren Weisman is titled, What is the difference between intention and perception online? When you are maintaining a professional page for your business your venture, going into a war of words online with others in comments can be a bad move. How does arguing online hurt your reputation offline? Well, consider someone that might want to work with you, someone that is doing some due diligence and checking you out for the first time. If they find you going to town in a public forum attacking someone or getting into it, is that a solid first impression? It doesn’t matter if what they say is right, wrong or crazy. Do you think a potential investor, partner or person with an opportunity is going to ask about your side of a social media argument? Most likely, no. The perception is that you may not be able to bite your tongue or have the professionalism to take a disagreement offline. I keep with a simple mantra… If you're not having an effective 2-way conversation w/ consideration, respect, & open-mindedness, and that communication. Why waste the time? This also takes away from your personal branding communication being more positive. I have no problem not responding to an online attack or to someone that is trying to instigate. I leave it be. It's not about getting the last word in. It's keeping your reputation intact. How does arguing online hurt your reputation offline? Trademark Explained - Intellectual Property Law | Lex Animata | Hesham Elrafei
What is Trademark law? By Hesham Elrafei https://www.linkedin.com/in/heshamelrafei Trademarks are brand names or designs , which are applied to products and services. A trademark is a distinguished word, phrase , a symbol , a fragrance or a logo , or a combination of these elements. which is used in trade/business , to indicate the origin/source of the brand, in order to distinguish and identify the brand owner in the market. Trademark law protects the consumer, by preventing the public confusion , as to the origin or quality of a product. and it also reward the brand owner , by maintaining his business successful reputation in the market. Trademarks legally conflict with each other, if the use of one trademark causes public confusion as to the product being offered in the market ( likelihood of confusion ) The american law protects trademarks even if its not registered, which is also known as the Common Law Trademark Rights, in this case registration is not required to establish trademark rights, seeing that the first who use a trademark in commerce owns it. On the other hand, Most countries require registration of a trademark , as it provides legal certainty and reinforces the position of the right holder . therefore any subsequent users who cause confusion as to the product or its origin , will be forced to stop using the mark , and might be liable to pay the trademark owner damages. Lastly, Trademark is not absolute as its subject to various limits and defenses, such as abandonment, limitations on geographic area in which the mark is used , and fair use , which means that the more common and generic the word is , the less likely the trademark owner may be able to regulate it. This doctrine also protects "nominative" use of the trademark name, as is often done by competitors in marketing materials.

The Value of Brands and Reputation in the Global Marketplace
Everyone understands the value of business brands for consumers and sales, but the evidence on the economy-wide implications of branding is limited. For example, how much do companies invest in branding relative to other tangible and intangible assets? In which ways are there markets for brands? How do branding choices affect the functioning of market competition? Do branding activities affect the pace of product innovation? How does trademark policy affect brands? To understand more about these critical issues ITIF is hosting a panel for the U.S. release of the World Intellectual Property Organization's (WIPO) new 2013 World Intellectual Property Report: Brands-Reputation and Image in the Global Marketplace.

The Formation of Organizational Reputation
by Davide Ravasi, Joep Cornelissen, Violina Rindova, and Michael Etter Published Online:11 Apr 2018 https://doi.org/10.5465/annals.2016.0124 In this article we review four decades of research on the formation of organizational reputation. Our review reveals six perspectives that have informed past studies: a game theoretic, a strategic, a macro-cognitive, a micro-cognitive, a cultural-sociological, and communicative one. We compare and contrast the different assumptions about what reputation is and how it is formed that characterize these perspectives, and we discuss the implications of these differences for our theoretical understanding of stability and change, control and contestation, and the micro-macro relationship in the complex process of reputation formation. We discuss how the integration among these perspectives, through their positioning, blending, and alignment, may enhance our theoretical understanding of this phenomenon.
11 Difference Between Sales and Marketing
1. Marketing is the systematic planning, implementation and control of business activities to bring together buyers and sellers. 2. A sale a transaction between two parties where the buyer receives goods (tangible or intangible), services and/or assets in exchange for money.  3. Marketing is one to many. Sales is about one to one. 4. Marketing means generating leads or prospects. sales means converting the leads or prospects into purchases and orders. 5. Horizon Marketing Longer term Sales: Short term 6. Marketing shows how to reach to the Customers and build long lasting relationship. Selling is the ultimate result of marketing. 7. Marketing looks after the brand’s reputation. Sales develops relationships. It’s relationship-driven. 8. Marketing targets the construction of a brand identity so that it becomes easily associated with need fulfillment. Sales is the strategy of meeting needs in an opportunistic, individual method, driven by human interaction. 9. Marketing could consist of advertising, public relations, social media, relationship marketing, brand marketing, viral marketing, and direct mail. 10. Marketing studies what experience customers expect when they buy or try a product, service or solution. Sales analyses the behavior of the prospects and customers whom they deal with on an individual basis. 11.  Marketing analyses the big data. Marketing brings you the average result not the specifics. Sales deals with the ambiguities and the details of each person. It cannot be averaged.

Difference Between Corporate Identity and Branding
Corporate Identity and Branding are two concepts in marketing and identifying the difference between them is quite complex as both concepts are interconnected. However, we can distinguish them from certain parameters on the grounds of perception. The internal perception and external perception (customer view) provide clues to differentiate between these two marketing concepts. The key difference between corporate identity and branding is that corporate identity has an internal viewpoint while branding has an external viewpoint. Nowadays, many organizations spend on corporate identity to boost their branding. This includes non-governmental organizations too. Each firm might have its own specialty and should focus to highlight their strength as their appearance. This will help in a better customer perception. For example, Volvo had its specialty in heavy vehicles since their establishment in 1928. They translated this strength in making safer more durable cars which earned them a name as the safest vehicle in a customer viewpoint. With this brief, we will delve deeper into each concept. What is Corporate Identity? Corporate identity is associated with the look and feel of a business. This is an internal factor that exhibits the business to the outer world. Corporate identity can be defined as the overall image of a business entity in the minds of the diverse public, such as customers, investors, and employees. Usually, firms associate the corporate identity with branding of their products or services using trademarks. Corporate identity is often represented by a logo or a picture. For example, Volkswagen uses a circle with letters V and W. Pepsi uses a circle with three colors of red, white and blue. These logos help stakeholders to identify the company instantly. Corporate identity should possess the characteristics of being unique, easily distinguishable from the identity of other businesses, focus on product and reflecting the vision of the firm. Corporate identity is a philosophy, where the customer believes that they have its ownership as they combine attributes with corporate identity to make different perceptions. Corporate identity helps organizations to reflect their introduction and focus more easily. For example, if you see a curved red color “m”, you immediately associate it with a burger outlet run by McDonalds. Corporate identity has explicit guidelines associated with them. These guidelines govern how the identity is applied. Few examples are color palettes, typefaces and page layouts. difference between corporate identity and branding Logo of Volkswagen What is Branding? While corporate identity is all about the look and feel of a business, branding is related to emotion, trust, and reliability in the mindset of customers. Branding is all about how people feel and think about the company or simply how they perceive the organization. Branding can evoke various emotions such as confidence, trust, happiness, anger, etc. This is because of the experience associated with the organization. The corporate identity plays a role in deciding the reaction of the perceives, as corporate identity is associated with the firm to the customer experience. Branding can be defined as the external perception of stakeholders of the firm in relation to their experience with the given firm. The brand is a collective perception of various factors. The lived experience of the brand is very important. Further, advertising campaigns can play a crucial part in making the customers believe in the contents of the message which reflects the brand. If the promise can be delivered in the first interaction, the brand will have a positive effect. Branding ultimately determines whether a customer becomes loyal to a firm due to the experience – perception factor. For example, BMW can be your first car, but it is the brand (experience) that will decide whether it will be your life long choice. Key Difference Corporate identity vs. branding What is the difference between Corporate Identity and Branding? As we have a general understanding of the concepts of corporate identity and branding, let’s shift our focus towards the differences between them. Definition of Corporate Identity and Branding Corporate Identity: Corporate identity can be defined as “the overall image of a business entity in the minds of the diverse public, such as customers, investors, and employees”. Branding: Branding can be defined as “the external perception of stakeholders of the firm in relation to their experience with the given firm”. Marketing vs. Branding - What's the Difference?
🚧 Get your FREE copy of the Bold Brand Blueprint: www.brittanypickrem.com/bold-brand-blueprint Good morning everyone and Welcome to BrandTipTuesday #21 my name is Brittany Pickrem and I’m a brand expert and designer and I create great visual branding for businesses that are doing good things. I’ve had a lot of questions recently about the role of marketing vs visual branding so I’m going to talk about this for today’s Brand Tip Tuesday. You’re gonna wanna stick around to the end to learn how you can begin to develop a marketing strategy for your business that aligns with your visual brand. During these brand tips, I typically talk about the importance of having a consistent and professional visual brand in place for your business. However, its extremely important to know that a visual brand will not be effective without a strategy behind it and that’s where marketing comes in. I like to think about a visual brand as the the beauty and the marketing as the brains of your business. Generally, your visual brand represents who you are and what you stand for and marketing is how you build awareness about your brand. As important as it is to have a professional visual brand, you also need a consistent marketing strategy in place to create awareness of your brand by building relationships with your audience over time and positioning yourself as the go-to expert that you are. In order to have a successful brand presence your marketing and visual brand very much need to work together. So what exactly is the difference between marketing and visual branding? I have come up with a simple example that begins to explain the difference between the two. Marketing -  is consistently promoting and occasionally selling your products or services. It provides brand awareness while providing education and value to your audience or potential customers. With marketing, you are you telling your audience what you want to be know for. Let’s say you own an accounting business. In your case, your marketing might have a consistent message that You know how to save your customers money during tax time. Branding on the other hand is how your customer perceives you, really its your reputation. Branding is when a potential customer might tell you: ‘I hear that you can help me save money on my taxes’ A great marketing strategy starts from being crystal clear on the basics of your brand. Knowing your brand basics, provides an effective direction for your visual brand and gives you great direction for your marketing strategy that aligns with your core brand values. If you want to get immediately clear on these brand basics check out my new, free resource that I just developed called the Bold Brand Blueprint. The Bold Brand Blueprint is a workbook is designed to help you go from confusion to clarity with your visual brand presence. To download this FREE workbook you can text ‘BRAND’ to 67076 Or you can visit www.britttanypickrem.com/bold-brand-blueprint Thanks for tuning in guys and see you next Tuesday!

Branding 101: The Differences between Brand Identity & Brand Image
http://www.woltersworld.com Companies sometimes feel like they can control everything about their brand. Sometimes they can, and that is called Brand Identity. As a company you can set out the colors, marketing scheme, tradenames everything to make your brand be what you want it to be. However getting customers to have that same brand identity is difficult. Because Brand Image is what people/customers perceive your brand to be and this can come about by their own experiences that you cannot control.
