Top 10 Most Bizarre Deep Sea Creatures Ever Discovered

12:32
Deep Sea Creatures are as bizarre as creatures get. From angler fish to giant squid, here are some of the weirdest bizarre deep sea creatures caught on tape. Subscribe for more! ► https://goo.gl/pgcoq1 ◄ Stay updated ► https://goo.gl/JyGcTt https://goo.gl/5c8dzr ◄ For copyright queries or general inquiries please get in touch: [email protected] Credit: https://pastebin.com/Pc2NrbsG Be Amazed at these top 10 most bizarre deep sea creatures in the world! Weird Octopuses - Octopuses are already strange creatures. Let's start off with the flapjack octopus which certainly looks like something out of a Disney movie . The informally named ‘Casper’ octopus gets the inspiration obviously from its ghastly look. For another Disney reference, look no further than the dumbo octopus . Angler Fish - Of course, we can't talk about the deep sea without mentioning just about every super wide-jawed oddity that lurks down there. On the top of the list is none other than the angler fish , which gets its name from its unusual hunting method, which involves luring prey close to its mouth using that weird luminescent appendage coming out of its head. Another frightening fish is the viperfish , measuring around 60 centimetres, or 23 inches in length. Probably even more hideous are deep-seadragonfishes , a similar class of wide-jawed monsters which make viperfish look like their incomplete cousins. Pelican Flounder - The main challenge for any deep-sea organism isn’t actually the absence of light, but the crushing pressure levels. Giant Isopods and Amphipods - Sure, ancient trilobites and modern horseshoe crabs may look cute and all, but out on the deep sea floor, there are creepy crawlies that can take you millions of years back into the age of the giant insects. Spider Crabs - Speaking of crustaceans, crabs also subjected to the same freakish transformations when the deep sea is taken into account. The Hoff crab is another ghastly version of its normal counterpart. Colossal Squid - The colossal squid is a gigantic cephalopod that is easily more than twice the size of a regular human. Giant squid are another huge squid species. Harp Sponge - As fearsome as they already are, sea anemones and other similar creatures have at least taught us that the oceans are also home to a number of immobile predatory feeders. Sea Toads - Siphonophores - Deep sea siphonophores are long lines of jellyfish-like entities connected together, only guided by the organism behind and in front. Gulper Eels - If there is one thing in the deep that is the literal stuff of nightmares, it would definitely have to be the Gulper eel . This is to be expected though, as at 8,200 meters deep, the cusk eel is officially one of the deepest ocean dwelling creatures on record.

In this episode of BlacktipH, Josh is joined once again by NFL star linebacker Sam Barrington from the Green Bay Packers to go fishing for monster goliath groupers off the coast of Florida. We started off the day catching bonito (false albacore) for bait. After catching half a dozen albies for bait, Sam was ready to start goliath grouper fishing. Sam hooked up to his first goliath grouper and immediately got yanked forward. After an intense short fight, Sam Barrington landed his first goliath grouper. The day ended with Sam catching four goliath groupers. Sam's friends Johan and Richard both caught a goliath grouper, adding up a total of six goliath groupers for the day. • Follow Sam on Instagram → http://bit.ly/instagram-sam • Follow Sam on Twitter → http://bit.ly/twitter-sam • Follow Sam on Snapchat → sambarrington ► Ceuticore Nutrition: http://bit.ly/ceuticore ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ABOUT BLACKTIPH ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ BlacktipH Fishing brings you some of the most exciting fishing videos on the web. 10 Creepy Sea Creatures You Didn't Know Existed

04:33
Did you know any of these amazing and scary deep sea creatures? It's hard to believe these bizarre animals exist. Subscribe: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg 'Hatchet Fish' footage by Filmic Art : www.filmicart.com For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Description: There is a vast world below the ocean that we have yet to discover in its entirety. While we seem to know nearly everything about the land, the sea still leaves much to be desired. As you go down into the depths of the ocean, you’ll notice a lot will change. For one, you’ll begin to be immersed in darkness. Second, the pressure will change. So, the creatures that have been discovered deep in the oceanic depths are quite different biologically, and they can be quite terrifying to look at. But once we begin to understand them, we can start to learn more about our existence, and even come closer to curing diseases and solving some of the world’s most complex mysteries. However, the sea creatures that have been discovered recently have shown to be just downright creepy and terrifying. You probably recall the Angler Fish, especially if you’re seen the Disney movie, “Finding Nemo”. If you didn’t realize that this fish is the real deal, get ready for new additions to your nightmares. It wasn’t a work of fiction or some messed up fantasy of some Disney Imagineer. The fish that we see in this video is actually female, and the male is a small weakling, wandering the sea to find a female with her pheromones. The male then attaches itself to the female and becomes a parasite. Every part of the male merges with the female except for the testicles, which the female uses to impregnate herself. Jokes aside, this is quite a fascinating process despite how creepy it is. Similar to the angler fish is the Viper Fish, which has a natural extra attachment that illuminates in the darkness of the sea with the purpose of attracting prey. The blob fish is a creature that you wonder what God was smoking or shooting up when he decided to create the blob fish. This fish has no bones, and literally just hangs out on the ocean floor and hopes that food comes to its mouth. Whether you want to worship the blob fish for its epic level of laziness or wonder how in the world the species is still in existence with such an apathetic demeanor, it’s still creepy to look at. Then we have the goblin shark, which is pretty much like the underwater version of the alien from the movie “Alien” due to its protruding mouth. The goblin shark has a large snout and needle-like teeth that are sharp and deadly. For a completely random sea creature, we have the Christmas Tree Worms, which really look like tiny walking fir trees that come in different colors. The branches or hair-like appendages help them breathe as well as consume phytoplankton. Then we have the sea pig, which looks nothing like the pigs we have on land. But instead the sea pig is a multi-tubed foot sea creature that is closely related to the sea cucumber. It eats by pulling water and absorbing organic food. Quite innovative, even though it looks creepy. For more creepy sea creatures, check out the rest of the video for more. 5 STRANGE Deep Sea Creatures - Part 1?

06:56
Its pitch black, extremely cold, immensely pressurised, low in food and oxygen and insanely vast. I'm of course talking about the Deep Sea. To survive in inconceivably extreme environments like this, animals of the deep must be pretty unbelievable. They are. Mainly because these mysterious creatures have adapted in ways that will surely blow your mind away - for a multitude of reasons. At a depth of 1800 meters or more it’s the largest habitat on earth, so let’s explore 5 unbelievable creatures found there. Watch the video for a more informative and entertaining experience (though the list is below): ➢5. The Spotlight Loosejaw This alien from the deep has highly-adapted weaponry and surveillance gear. It has a bioluminescent flashlight below its eyes that is undetectable to its prey and has an incredibly large and fast jaw. ➢4. The Barreleye Fish This animal has adapted in a unique way, to say the least. It's got a transparent head and unusual barrelled eyes. got 360 degree vision and is so illusive that only one has ever been filmed. ➢3. Cookiecutter shark Don’t let this deep sea creatures silly name and wide smile fool you because it's actually really vicious and definitely doesn't pick fights on creatures of its own size. This is because it preys on just about every large and medium-sized creature it shares an ocean with, from whales to seals and even other sharks. ➢2. Giant Isopod These bottom feeders are thought to live at depths of up to 2200 meters where they like to burry themselves in the mud for protection. They have an extremely slow metabolism to conserve energy and can starve themselves for years. ➢1. Wolf-Trap Angler An anglerfish with an unusual jaw, which is how it got its name. The anglerfish is certainly an unbelievable creature more generally though. It hunts with some sort of fishing rod on its head and when it comes to reproducing the male simply bites the female... eternally.

National Geographic's remote imaging team uses drop-cam technology to explore deep ocean mysteries. In this video, mechanical engineer Alan Turchik explains how the drop cam works and reveals footage of underwater life never seen before in the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean. The camera captured images of a gulper shark, not previously known to occupy these waters. The January 2015 expedition was organized by the Bertarelli Foundation and led by Zoological Society of London researcher Tom Letessier. The National Geographic Society/Waitt Grants Program also supported the expedition. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. Macropinna microstoma: A deep-sea fish with a transparent head and tubular eyes

01:29
MBARI researchers Bruce Robison and Kim Reisenbichler used video taken by unmanned, undersea robots called remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to study barreleye fish in the deep waters just offshore of Central California. At depths of 600 to 800 meters (2,000 to 2,600 feet) below the surface, the ROV cameras typically showed these fish hanging motionless in the water, their eyes glowing a vivid green in the ROV's bright lights. The ROV video also revealed a previously undescribed feature of these fish--its eyes are surrounded by a transparent, fluid-filled shield that covers the top of the fish's head. This video is narrated by senior scientist Bruce Robison. For more on this story, see MBARI's news release at: http://www.mbari.org/news/news_releases/2009/barreleye/barreleye.html For more cool animal images, see MBARI's feature images galleries: http://www.mbari.org/news/feature-image/feature-image-gallery-2.html

The anglerfish: The original approach to deep-sea fishing

02:19
Deep-sea anglerfish are strange and elusive creatures that are very rarely observed in their natural habitat. Fewer than half a dozen have ever been captured on film or video by deep diving research vehicles. This little angler, about 9 cm long, is named Melanocetus. It is also known as the Black Seadevil and it lives in the deep dark waters of the Monterey Canyon. MBARI's ROV Doc Ricketts observed this anglerfish for the first time at 600 meters on a midwater research expedition in November 2014. We believe that this is the first video footage ever made of this species alive and at depth. Watch a video about a different type of anglerfish observed by ROV Doc Ricketts for the first time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cl_MbvSUvTk&list=UUFXww6CrLAHhyZQCDnJ2g2A For more information: http://www.mbari.org Video producer: Susan vonThun Script and narration: Bruce Robison
23 Biggest Deep Sea Mysteries

09:14
Did you know Colossal Squids can grow up to 50 ft in length? From the mysterious Mariana Trench shark to creepy fish that look human, these are the 23 Biggest Deep Sea Mysteries ! #10 … Terrible Claw Lobster -- This tiny creature was discovered in 2007, in the deep ocean off the Philippine coast. Hardly anything is known about them yet, except they have two different sizes of knife and claw. The one longer claw is actually as long as the creature’s body itself. #9 … Angler Fish -- This deep-sea creature is fairly well known for a deep sea denizen. So what’s it’s angle? The fish has an appendage growing out of its forehead that has a light on the tip. It uses this to attract prey, then devours them with its gaping mouth. #8 … Sulfur Lake -- Located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, this lake is notable for two features: It’s actually located underwater and it’s made entirely of molten sulfur. This area is teeming with creatures that seem uniquely designed for this location, like crabs and shrimp. #7 … Vampire Squid -- This bizarre creature doesn’t have fangs but it can put on a light show. It produces its own light through spots on its side and through glowing tentacle tips. When threatened, the Vampire Squid will eject an ink that glows. #6 … Frilled Shark -- Because they’ve been around so long, this animal is sometimes referred to as a living fossil because it’s changed so little over millions of years. Known for a mouth filled with 300 backward-facing, trident-shaped teeth aligned in 25 rows, it can consume prey half as long as its body. It prefers depths around 4200 feet, so it’s rarely seen. But one was captured in Japan in 2007. #5 … Alaskan Whale Deaths -- 30 whales beached themselves on Alaskan shores in 2015, and 29 of them were fin whales. Toxic algae was ruled out as the cause of death, since no other species stranded themselves on shore. Experts believe that all the whales died at the same time, but the mystery of this mass whale death still remains unsolved. A full-fledged investigation is expected to take years to complete. #4 … Milky Seas -- Sailors in the past told stories of encountering “milky, glowing waters”. In 1995, a British merchant ship documented that the waters appeared pale and milky-white. Scientists have determined that the cause of the glow is luminous bacteria. The bacteria starts lighting up in order to attract fish. Once the bacteria is ingested, the bacteria can live inside the animals. #3 … Mariana Trench Mystery Shark -- It’s a misnomer because footage of this shark was actually taken in Suruga (soo-gear-uh) Bay in Japan. And estimates that it measured 60-feet long turned out to be false, as was the notion it could be a Megalodon. It’s thought that this is either a six gill shark, which can grow up to 25 feet … or a Pacific sleeper shark, which can survive at depths as low as 9,000 feet. #2 … Giant Oar fish -- This creature can reach lengths up to 56 feet, and weigh up to 600 pounds. These creatures are largely unknown, but are thought to have been the reason for many sightings of sea serpents. Living in deep waters, Oar fish don’t spend much time on the surface. But in 2013, two of the animals made news when they washed ashore on California beaches. Scientists think that strong currents pushed the fish toward shore and they were battered to death by swells. #1 … Colossal Squids -- They can grow to nearly 50 feet long with 10 arms and eyes over a foot in diameter. These deep sea dwelling creatures are the largest known invertebrate in the world. Not a whole lot is known about them, but evidence suggests they’re loners and eat an enormous quantity of large fish. The largest colossal squid ever captured really lived up to its name: It weighed almost 1,100 pounds and was caught in New Zealand in 2007. Deep Sea Fish Farming in Geodesic Domes: Upgrade

10:03
In this episode of Upgrade, Motherboard goes to Baja California, Mexico to get a firsthand look at these free floating pods, and to get an understanding for why we need better ways to cultivate our future food sources. Whether it’s found on a plate of sushi, grilled in our backyard, or thrown on pasta, seafood is a staple for many diets around the world, and demand is growing. And as the commercial seafood industry booms, fish stocks worldwide face perilous declines. We’ve surpassed our capacity to sustainably fish wild caught fish, shrimp, and mollusks from the ocean, and so we’ve turned to aquaculture, or fish farming, as a strategy to meet demand for our growing appetites for water-borne critters. The aquaculture industry is growing fast. According to the FAO, per capita production of seafood from aquaculture has increased 6.9 percent annually since 1970. Unfortunately for us and for our Earth, current methods of fish farming often involve crowded, tethered pens, which can have poor water circulation and contribute to the spread of disease, and put large amounts of environmental stress on the surrounding waterways. This is where Steve Page of Ocean Farm Technologies comes in. Taking inspiration from naturally-occurring schools of fish and Buckminster Fuller’s geodesic domes, Page co-designed the Aquapod, a free floating, untethered deep ocean fish habitat which reduces overcrowding, and creates less stress on surrounding environments due to its unique ability to change location with the ocean's current. Living on the Ocean Floor

03:06
Living on the Ocean Floor - footage recorded by Vincent Zintzen, Te Papa Fish Team, Natural Environment. Film recorded using a baited Lander in various locations and depths around NZ. The video unit lights up the dark world of the deep sea. Food is scarce so the animals that live in the depths are attracted to the bait. The camera reveals the interesting behaviour of these creatures as they strive to survive in their extreme environment The footage of the seal shark attacking the hagfish, and getting a mouthful of slime for his troubles, is a good example of the knowledge gained through this difficult and exacting research. 10 Rare Deep Sea Catches

08:44
From the giant squid found near Antarctica, to the most awesome fish inside a jelly fish ! These are 10 RARE Deep Sea Catches ! Basket Star -- Was it an alien life form? Nothing so exotic. But a fisherman in Singapore reeled in a catch that caught worldwide attention. The weird, writing octopus-like creature was actually a basket star … a distant relative of the starfish. The fisherman said he thought he had reeled in a bunch of seaweed since it’s so prevalent in the area. Although it looks like the creature has hundred of arms wriggling about, it only has five arms, which are each divided into more dexterous ‘branchlets’. This really was a rare deep sea catch since Basket Stars live so deep under the sea … some 6,000 feet or so … and feed mostly on zooplankton. A Controversial Catch -- A Tiger shark measuring nearly 20 feet long was caught off the Australian coast in 2015. Tiger sharks normally grow to lengths between 10 to 14 feet, and are found worldwide in tropical and temperate waters. The apex predators are known to hunt a variety of animals including sea snakes, turtles, dolphins and whales. When photos of the enormous carcass lying on a fishing boat were posted on Facebook, it prompted a social media backlash. Critics compared the display to Cecil the Lion, who was controversially killed by an American big game hunter. What do you think? Ghost Octopus -- A remotely operated submarine called Deep Discover made an amazing discovery when it caught this creature on video: A mysterious, ghostlike octopus sitting on a rock … at a depth of nearly 4,300 meters … or over 14, 000 feet below the surface! The unusual octopus was found during a deep-sea dive in the Hawaiian Archipelago. Researchers said its ghostly appearance is due to the animal’s lack of pigment cell called chromatophores, which most cephalopods possess. While the newly discovered creature is thought to be previously undescribed, researchers have classified it as an incirrate octopod ... meaning it lacks fins and cirri, which are wispy strands found on the arms of some octopuses. Cirrate octopods have fins, and are sometimes called Dumbo octopods … a reference to their resemblance to the Disney cartoon elephant. This small ghost octopus is the first incirrate octopod observed at such an extreme depth. A lot of people think this creature should be named ‘Casper’ … can you think of a better name? Here’s the Catch -- This is kind of like a rare deep sea double catch … A fish is caught inside a jellyfish … and the incident is caught on film! You can see in Tim Samuel’s photograph that the fish seems to realize it’s made a horrible mistake … if it’s any consolation to the fish, the picture will no doubt provide fodder for plenty of internet memes. The incident took place off the coast of Australia's Byron Bay earlier in 2016. The species of the fish and jellyfish are difficult to identify from the picture. But some experts think the jellyfish is a type of stinging jellyfish known as a cubomedusan (koo-boe-med-ooh-san) … and the fish might be a juvenile trevally (treh-valley). Because that fish species is known to evade predators by camouflaging itself among the stingers of certain jellyfish species, it likely intended to get close to the jellyfish … but not actually inside it! Did the jellyfish end up eating the fish … or did the two creatures strike up an unlikely alliance and go on to have some amazing aquatic adventures? As it was decided to let nature run its course … we may never know. Can you think of a happy ending? Gigantic Giant Squid -- A squid the size of a minibus was captured in the area of Antarctica’s isolated Ross Sea. Researchers kept it on ice for some 8 months before thawing it out to discover it’s wasn't just another giant squid … it was a gigantic squid, weighing 770 pounds! Scientists identified the enormous creature’s gender as female, with 8 arms measuring over three feet each, and dual tentacles reaching 7 feet. One of the scientists speculated that animals such as this may have inspired legends like the Kraken, who often battled other huge sea creatures, like whales. Analyzing the huge squid is part of a research project that scientists hope will yield more information about where giant squids figure in the overall marine-based food chain … In addition to identify various squid types and find out more about their dietary patterns and life-cycle. 13 Glowing ALIEN Fish From The Deep Sea

10:04
From Fluorescent Viperfish and Bioluminescent Catsharks to Glowing Anglerfish and Genetically Modified Glofish. These are 13 Glowing Fish. SUBSCRIBE for the latest videos: https://goo.gl/7xzjzR 13 GloFish Let’s start off this video about fish that glow, with GloFish! They are a patented and trademarked brand of genetically engineered fluorescent fish. The first fluorescent zebrafish were created at the National University of Singapore in 1999, by scientists trying to make a fish that would detect pollution by glowing in toxic waters. They combined the zebrafish embryo with genes that encode fluorescent proteins from jellyfish and sea coral. Yorktown Technologies, a company from Austin, Texas, bought the worldwide marketing rights to the fluorescent fish and in 2003, introduced the GloFish in the United States. It is the first and only genetically engineered animal to be publicly available and can only be found in the US. 12 Stoplight Loosejaw At number 12, we have the first naturally glowing fish on our list, the Stoplight Loosejaw. A type of barbeled dragonfish, it lives in the mesopelagic areas of all oceans. The mesopelagic zone is between 200 and 1000 metres below the surface of the water. Sunrays usually stop well before the 1 kilometre mark so creatures living here need to adapt to the darkness. Like our loosejaw, who lurks below the waters looking for zooplankton, with its huge mouth wide open, while using bioluminescence to look for Copepods, its favourite food. It is called a Stoplight Loosejaw because it has two big photophores, one red and one green and they look like the colors on a traffic stoplight. Due to the way light travels and dissipates in deep water, the red photophore allows it to see prey without being detected. They are also called rat-trap fish because of the unusual open structure of their jaws. 8 Cookiecutter Shark Moving on to the Cookiecutter Shark, or the Cigar Shark, an oceanic fish that likes to swim at depth of over 3 kilometres below the water. The name "cookiecutter shark" refers to its feeding habit of gouging round plugs, as if cut out with a cookie cutter, out of larger animals. Marks made by cookiecutter sharks have been found on a wide variety of marine mammals and fishes, as well as on submarines, undersea cables, and even human bodies. But the Cookiecutter Shark also glows in the dark, one of the most glowing of all fish, it’s bioluminescence persists up to 3 hours after being out of water. The photophores are strategically places on its underside to disrupt the light coming from above, confusing predators and hiding it’s real silhouette. 7 Lanternfish This method of camouflaging yourself with light is also used by the the Lantern Fish. A species of small, deep water fish, it is one of the most widely distributed fish. It is estimated that 65% of the oceans biomass are Lanternfish, with 246 species discovered so far. Small fish, they are between 2 and 30 centimetres long, although most of them stay well under 15 centimetres. They are masters of disguise, using their bioluminescence and counterillumination to confuse predators and mask themselves on the bottoms of the oceans. Thy also have gas bladders that confuse other fish that use echolocation or sonars. 2 Viperfish Next we take a closer look at the Viperfish. They are between 30 and 60 centimetres long and live in tropical and temperate waters and swim at great depths, 1500 metres below sea level during the day and down to 4000 metres during the night. They have snake like bodies and long, needle like teeth, and they are really ugly. They are predatory fish and feed on almost anything they gets their teeth into. The Viperfish has 3 types of photophores on its body, used mainly to attract prey. They have microscopic spheres all over their dorsal side, large spheres with pigment, reflector and lens, and finally, large, bell shaped organs grouped together along the dorsal surface. Although it may look like the viperfish is covered in scales, it is in fact covered by a thick, transparent coating of an unknown substance. 1 Anglerfish And at number one, probably the most famous and bizzare glowing fish, the Anglerfish. There are many types of Anglerfish, all over the globe, living at a variety of depths. But what all Anglerfish species have in common are their huge mouths full of razor sharp teeth and the esca, a fleshy growth on their heads, that houses light producing bacteria, and acts like bait for their prey, luring them straight into the fishs mouth. Anglerfish are a delicacy. Some Anglerfish species are a source of food. In North America, Europe and East-Asia, Goosefish are widely used in cooking and is often compared to a lobster tail in taste and texture. In Asia, especially in Korea and Japan, the liver of the Monkfish is considered a delicacy.
