Blue Grotto, Capri, Italy - Relaxing boat tour. Grotto Azzurra
The Blue Grotto (Grotto Azzura in Italian) is Capri’s jewel in the crown. This legendary sea cave was once the Roman Emperor Tiberius’ private swimming pool. Bathed in an ethereal blue light it is your must see place to visit on the island. Thinking of visiting the Grotto on a visit to Capri to see the natural phenomenon for yourself or just fancy watching a tranquil, relaxing boat ride, whichever I hope you enjoy the film. How to get there: The Grotto is located on the north west coast of the island. If you don’t have a car you can either take a boat from Marina Grande or travel there by bus. A boat tour from Marina Grande will cost you about 26 euros, comprising the trip to the cave, the rowing boat that takes you into the cave and your entrance fee. Allow about an hour and a half. At peak times there can be quite a line to enter the cave. There are various boat tours including a tour around the island. Alternatively you can travel there by bus. Buses run from the port Marina Grande to Capri or Anacapri. The bus from Marina Grande to Anacapri takes about 20 minutes and 15 minutes from there to the Grotto. Or why not take the funicular up to Capri and catch the bus from there. The ticket office is to the right as you get off the ferry. A day pass “unico Capri” costs 6.90 euros and covers all your island travel except the Monte Solaro cable car. Take the bus to Anacapri, change then take the bus to the Blue Grotto, you can’t miss it as it is the last stop. Walk down the stairs and wait for your rowing boat. If you travel by bus you wont have to hang around waiting for the rest of your party to go into the grotto. Once you have enjoyed the grotto take some refreshments at the kiosk up above the grotto before taking the bus back to Capri or Anacapri to carry on your sightseeing. Tips: Best light is apparently noon until 2pm. Queues reduce after 3pm but the sea can get rougher and sometimes is too rough to enter. Go early to avoid the lines. You will need to climb into a row boat. Each rowing boat only holds 3 passengers and the oarsman. You buy your entrance ticket at a floating ticket office first, no credit cards accepted so have enough cash. Be prepared to enter the cave you will need to lie down flat in the boat, the boatman will then pull the boat into the narrow opening of the cave with a chain. It’s a tight squeeze. The rowing boat costs 13 euros each, which includes the 4 euro entrance fee and don’t forget to tip your guide, be prepared for 5 – 10 euros, it will make him happy. Money saving tip: Entrance to the Grotto is free on the first Sunday of every month. The History Bit: The cave was discovered by the Romans and used by Emperor Tiberius’ as a private bathing pool and temple. A number of statues have been found in the cave and some are still believed to be lying at the bottom of the cave. The cave became abandoned as locals feared it was inhabited by spirits until it was rediscovered in 1826 and popularised by the writer August Lopisch and painter Ernst Fries. The Science Bit: Why does the water inside the cave appear to be bathed in an ethereal blue light? There are actually two entrance holes into the cave, one directly below the other. The small top hole is the boat entrance to the cave. The lower hole is below the line of the water allows light into the cave which lights up the bottom of the cave, but filters out all but the blue light giving the water it’s brilliant emerald blue colour. Private Boat Cruise From Sorrento to Capri Italy and Back
Private Boat Cruise From Sorrento to Capri Italy and Back. As it was for our drive along the Amalfi Coast, the size of our small group made it possible to hire a private boat and skipper to take use for a boat cruise from Sorrento to the island of Capri of the Amalfi Coast of Italy. It was a gorgeous day for a boat cruise, the sun was shining and the Mediterranean Sea was relatively calm with just a few small waves. We hopped on the boat early and started cruising along the Sorrento coastline exploring the natural beauty as our boat made it's way toward edge of the Amalfi coast and then out to Capri. Sorrento is a coastal town on the Mediterranean coast of Italy. It is just south of Naples and just around the corner from the Amalfi Coast. Capri is an island just off the Amalfi Coast on the Mediterranean side of Italy. Hi I'm Ian and I'm into Photography, Videography, Cinematography, Travel and YouTube.... Capri Tour - What to see on a day trip
Capri - What we saw on our day trip from Sorrento! Stunning views & more. My video of what to see in Sorrento is here: https://youtu.be/0v874sJwHUM My video of what to see in Positano is here (3m10s): https://youtu.be/q9QF3Camv-0 You can also see my Pompeii tour video here (9m06s): https://youtu.be/Gbr0QAX8XG8 And you can see my Herculaneum tour video here (7m56s): https://youtu.be/ErczUC9s-kU Here's the Capri video narrative: Capri is a small Italian island in the Bay of Naples, about 5 kilometers from the mainland. We visited on a day trip in April, arriving via a fast jet ferry from Sorrento and avoiding the peak summer season, when the island can be overrun with tourists. Capri is also easy to reach by ferry from Naples. We arrived at Capri’s main port, Marina Grande, which is on the north coast. From here you can take boat trips, for example to the Blue Grotto, which is a flooded sea-cave, or you can take a boat to the south coast to see the Faraglioni Rocks. However, with limited time we decided to make for Capri town, then on to to Anacapri and Monte Solaro. To get from Marina Grande up to Capri town we took the funicular railway which connects the harbour to the Piazzetta, the town’s main square. Capri’s two main centres, Capri town and its uphill rival Anacapri, are almost entirely given over to tourism and prices can be high. Capri is a world-famous beauty spot and it’s also a summer favourite of holidaying VIPs. The Piazzetta is full of fashionable bars and it’s well worth stopping for an espresso. You might even see one of those VIPs! The square is dominated by a free-standing clock tower. Note the tiled clock face. Capri is well known for its maiolica tiles. Here they can be seen forming a map of the island. We boarded a crowded bus to Anacapri and explored the island’s second town. Walking along Via Giuseppe Orlandi, we saw the Casa Rossa, a brightly coloured house built in the late 1800s by an American colonel. It’s now a museum. Continuing along this road, we reached Piazza San Nicola and the Church of San Michele, built in Italian baroque style at the turn of the 18th century. Built on an octagonal Greek cross plan, the church is famous for its maiolica floor decoration depicting the expulsion of Adam and Eve. It was completed in 1761. For an impressive view of the entire floor, you can climb the spiral staircase to the organ loft and look out over the church from above. More maiolica tiles can be seen nearby, decorating the benches in Piazza Armando Diaz. The Monte Solaro chairlift is also in Anacapri, and it reaches the top of the 589 meters high mountain within minutes. From the summit there are picturesque views over the island and across the Bay of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno. There’s also a great view of the Faraglioni Rocks from here. These three spurs of rock rise from the sea within meters of the coast and are one of the favourite destinations for boat tours of the island’s coast. We hiked down from the summit back to Anacapri. The path is quite uneven in places but the walk is well worth it for the changing panoramas. On the way down, you can see a series of small bronze plaques. Each represents a stop on the Via Crucis, or Way of the Cross. We headed back to Marina Grande and caught the last ferry back to Sorrento, which left late afternoon. You can see plenty of this beautiful island in a few hours, but don’t expect to fit everything in. Next time, maybe we’ll get to the Blue Grotto! Filmed in April 2016 by Deanna Allison.

Cinque Terre Boat Tour 2018
Cinque Terre Boat Tour 2018, Visit Cinque Terre beach, Cinque Terre Travel, Cinque Terre Tourism & Vacations Travel Vlog 4K 🔔 https://goo.gl/3bGifS We depart Monterosso and take a nice morning boat tour of Cinque Terre and stop off in a few villages along the way and then return to Monterosso. We have some Prosecco on the boat! Cinque Terre, which means Five Lands, comprise the five small coastal villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso located in the Italian region of Liguria. See in Cinque Terre ================== The main attraction of the Cinque Terre is the landscape. Mediterranean herbs and trees grow spontaneously from the top of the hills down to the water level. Well embedded in this magnificent natural scenery, one can admire the intense human activity of the ancestors, when the wine terraces were built. An enormous (and somehow crazy) work of transportation, carrying all the heavy stones on men's shoulders and women's heads. A work through the centuries, in fact it's estimated to have taken about 200 years to build the entire stone-wall network. Its total length has been calculated to be at least equal to the Great Wall of China. Tourists can enjoy the scenery described above, walk through the towns (or between them) or hiking on the paths and enjoying the local atmosphere. Depending on the time of the year there are some specific things to see: The lighted Nativity in Manarola (Dec. 8th till late Jan.). The world's biggest Lighted nativity. The patron festivity of the 5 towns (all between late May and Aug.), a mix of religious ceremony and popular parties. The pirates attack in Vernazza (mid summer), a celebration of the succesful defence of the town from a Saracen attack occurred during the middle age. The harvest (early/mid Sept.) and wine making, when men's shoulders and women's heads are still used as they were hundreds of years ago. The sea storms (frequent in winter), a great show of nature's power.

VENICE, Vaporetto (boat) ride to beautiful MURANO, ITALY
SUBSCRIBE: http://www.youtube.com/c/VicStefanu - Vaporetto from Venice to Murano, Italy. Vic Stefanu, [email protected] Venice, capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a marshy lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. Its stone palaces seemingly rise out of the water. There are no cars or roadways, just canals and boats. The Grand Canal snakes through the city, which is filled with innumerable narrow, mazelike alleys and small squares
Italian River Cruises • Aboard the 20 Passenger La Bella Vita | European Waterways
When it comes to river cruises, Italy is one of the best destinations around. Our cruises around Italy will let you discover that country’s hidden beauty! These waterways were once the ancient trade routes used by the Romans and the early Mediterranean settlers before them, and cruises around Italy are perfect for gaining a real insight into the many cultures. Throughout the season the 20 passenger La Bella Vita provides Italian river cruises that encompass the romance and architecture of Venice as well as the captivating lakeside setting of the Renaissance city of Mantua. Venice is, of course, the crowning jewel of most Italian river cruises, but Mantua, in central northern Italy, has also been (and still is) a hub of art, culture and music for centuries. The route inland takes you along the River Po and the Bianco Canal through the Po Valley. Delicious seafood, local culinary specialities, fine wines and attentive service complete the experience of this fairytale adventure, and explain the appeal of our boutique Italian river cruises. Luxuriating in a friendly and relaxing boat environment, travellers have an opportunity for a unique perspective on some magnificent Italian cities. La Bella Vita is the perfect vessel aboard which to embark in one of our cruises around Italy and to immerse yourself in Italian Renaissance culture. When it comes to river cruises, Italy is indeed hard to beat! What is hotel barging? Despite the growing popularity of cruising, especiallly on large river vessels, hotel barging is still a little known niche concept. Most hotel barges started life as cargo vessels but have since been painstakingly converted to offer luxury boutique accommodation for small groups of up to 20 passengers. This is cruising, but in a very different style to ships plying the big rivers or oceans. The pace is slow, with a 6 day cruise covering maybe just 50 miles along a rural canal. Passengers can walk or bike the towpaths as their floating hotel glides gently along. Guests enjoy an intimate atmosphere, high levels of personal service and immersion into the culture, history and gastronomy of regions of Europe such as Burgundy, the Midi, or the Italian Veneto. Every day there is an excursion, perhaps to a chateau, a vineyard for a wine tasting, or some other ‘off the beaten track’ location. About half of European Waterways’ bookings are for whole boat charters, ideal for families. Otherwise, clients book a cabin to join other like-minded people. A ‘slow boat’ European Waterways barge cruise offers the ultimate in experiential travel. A truly unique experience! ITALY ROADTRIP: Palermo - Napoli - Ischia by Boat
■ My favorite Italian city: https://youtu.be/LNowaMQ2UV8 ■ SICILY, ITALY: After driving the length of mainland Italy and across the island of Sicily, it was time to make my way back up towards the North. I didn't feel like driving the same route back so took to the internet. There i quickly discovered that there are boats from Palermo back to the mainland. Problem solved!

Our boat trip along the Italian coast of the Cinque Terre!
We took a bus from our cruise ship then boarded a boat in La Spezia to see the Cinque Terre. We stopped and toured 2 of the hillside towns of Vernazza & Monterosso. We enjoyed the most delicious lunch at Ristorante Moretto with local white wine. The boat ride was spectacular and we enjoyed seeing all the remote hillside wineries (many without electricity) and villages. Traveling long distance? I highly recommend this memory foam neck pillow: http://amzn.to/2fKYSRd

Venice - Italy tours and excursions, Boat tours
World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube Venice, Italy Travel Guide http://bit.ly/18hNZuE Venice - Italy tours and excursions, Boat tours Venice tours and excursions Venice tours Boat tours Walks Inside Venice organises comprehensive private English-speaking tours around the city. The company caters for small groups of up to 12 people and charges by the hour (most tours are three hours long). Sights visited depend on the tour taken and include the Bridge of Sighs, the Doge's Palace and the largely unspoilt Cannaregio District. Other cultural, historic and artistic tours can also be booked at tourist information offices. Gondola tours Take a trip through the lesser-known canals with a guided tour on board a gondola. Enjoy the most romantic experience that Venice has to offer, while seeing parts of this historic city that many guests don't get to view. A traditional gondola ride can take around 40 minutes and the routes vary. Singing and serenading is optional, and should be discussed with your gondolier in advance. You'll find gondolas and gondoliers throughout the main tourist areas, from Tronchetto and the Piazzale Roma, to the Rialto Bridge area and St Mark's Square. For a more reasonably priced guided tour, book through the tourist office below or go to Statius Gondolas Customs Calle Vallaresso near Harry's Bar on the Grand Canal. Daily 35 minute tours between April and October at 430pm. Vaporetto tour The Vaporetto dell'arte is a new tour of the Grand Canal. It offers a hop on, hop off water bus, stopping at over 20 museums, monuments, theatres and exhibitions. The Vaporetto leaves from the Santa Lucia railway station stop E every 30 minutes and ends at San Giorgio Maggiore Island (until 28 August) and Giardini (from 29 August until 25 November. Multimedia commentary is available on board and many of the museums offer discounted admission charges and priority access to Vaporetto dell'arte card holders. Walking tours Walks Inside Venice organises comprehensive private English-speaking tours around the city. Excursions from Venice Burano, Murano and Torcello Explore these fascinating Venetian islands by boat in a 3.5 hour boat trip leaving from San Marco. Visit the lace shops of Burano and tour a museum dedicated to the skill. Enjoy a glass-blowing display by skilled craftsmen in Murano. Meanwhile Torcello which used to be the most populated part of Venice and now has a population of less than 50, boasts Venice's oldest cathedral constructed in the 7th century. You can travel independently by vaporetto to each island. Padova Just 35km (21m) west of Venice lies Padova, a town distinguished by Italy's second oldest university and the remarkable Cappella degli Scrovegni, home of Giotto's groundbreaking frescoes. This delightful town inspired Shakespeare who used it as the setting for The Taming of the Shrew. It is also the site of the world's first botanical garden, created in 1545 and preserving its original layout, a circular central plot, symbolizing the world, surrounded by a ring of water. Tours run regularly from Piazzo San Marco and offer a varied choice of cultural or relaxing trips to one of the island's many museums or spas. Or for the independent traveller, a train from Venice's Santa Lucia station will take 30-40 minutes. Venice Lido The Lido is a short vaporetto ride from central Venice and provides a great escape for a day or afternoon from the tourist crowds. The beaches, while not extraordinary, are wide and sandy and a decent place to relax and swim in summer. In early September, the Lido hosts the Venice Film Festival, the first international film festival ever which opened in 1932 at the Excelsior Hotel. The Hotels des Bains nearby was the setting for Thomas Mann's famous novel Death in Venice. Across the road from the vaporetto stop is Santa Maria Elisabetta, a wide avenue lined with ice cream shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars, all adding to the chilled out beach atmosphere. Vaporetto Number 1 travels regularly to the Lido from various stops in Venice. ==================== Venice, Italy Travel Guide, Tourism, Vacation and Attractions,Venice Tours,Venice Attractions,Venice Hotels,Venice Restaurants,Venice Shopping,Venice Transport,Venice Museums,Venice history
