source : http://scribol.com Who in the world am I?” asks Alice at one point in the classic children’s book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. “Ah, that’s the great puzzle!” In fact, it has long been supposed that the book’s fictional protagonist was based on a real-life 11-year-old girl called Alice Liddell. And the author, it seems, was disturbingly fixated on her.https://youtu.be/dhaZ9LgP7Hg subscribe : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzLbdV1VO5X62AmQqnIthAQ

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 novel written by English mathematician Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells of a girl named Alice falling through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children.[1] It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre.[1][2] ALICE IN WONDERLAND - PLOT : Alice is feeling bored and drowsy while sitting on the riverbank with her older sister, who is reading a book with no pictures or conversations. She then notices a talking, clothed White Rabbit with a pocket watch run past. She follows it down a rabbit hole, but suddenly falls a long way to a curious hall with many locked doors of all sizes. She finds a small key to a door too small for her to fit through, but through it she sees an attractive garden. She then discovers a bottle on a table labelled "DRINK ME", the contents of which cause her to shrink too small to reach the key, which she has left on the table. She eats a cake with "EAT ME" written on it in currants. Alice growing to such a tremendous size that her head hits the ceiling. Alice is unhappy and, as she cries, her tears flood the hallway. After shrinking down again due to a fan she had picked up, Alice swims through her own tears and meets a Mouse, who is swimming as well. She tries to make small talk with him in elementary French (thinking he may be a French mouse) but her opening gambit "Où est ma chatte?" ("Where is my cat?") offends the mouse and he tries to escape her. The sea of tears becomes crowded with other animals and birds that have been swept away by the rising waters. Alice and the other animals convene on the bank and the question among them is how to get dry again. The Mouse gives them a very dry lecture on William the Conqueror. A Dodo decides that the best thing to dry them off would be a Caucus-Race, which consists of everyone running in a circle with no clear winner. Alice eventually frightens all the animals away... It tells of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world (Wonderland) populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as children. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre, and its narrative course and structure, characters and imagery have been enormously influential in both popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre. Alice was published in 1865, three years after the Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson and the Reverend Robinson Duckworth rowed in a boat, on 4 July 1862, up the Isis with the three young daughters of Henry Liddell (the Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University and Dean of Christ Church): Lorina Charlotte Liddell (aged 13, born 1849) ("Prima" in the book's prefatory verse); Alice Pleasance Liddell (aged 10, born 1852) ("Secunda" in the prefatory verse); Edith Mary Liddell (aged 8, born 1853) ("Tertia" in the prefatory verse). The journey began at Folly Bridge near Oxford and ended five miles away in the village of Godstow. During the trip the Reverend Dodgson told the girls a story that featured a bored little girl named Alice who goes looking for an adventure. The girls loved it, and Alice Liddell asked Dodgson to write it down for her. He began writing the manuscript of the story the next day, although that earliest version no longer exists. To add the finishing touches he researched natural history for the animals presented in the book, and then had the book examined by other children—particularly the children of George MacDonald. He added his own illustrations but approached John Tenniel to illustrate the book for publication. On 26 November 1864 he gave Alice the handwritten manuscript of Alice's Adventures Under Ground, with illustrations by Dodgson himself, dedicating it as "A Christmas Gift to a Dear Child in Memory of a Summer's Day". But before Alice received her copy, Dodgson was already preparing it for publication and expanding the 15,500-word original to 27,500 words, most notably adding the episodes about the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Tea-Party. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXeW2ixpfoA&index=1&list=PLM4S2hGZDSE5dZLuIrXdhjzkDkM-RHE4C First broadcast: Jan.2015. Generations of adults and children alike? To mark the 150th anniversary of its publication, this documentary explores the life and imagination of the man who wrote it, the Reverend Charles Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carroll. Broadcaster and journalist Martha Kearney delves into the biographies of both Carroll himself and of the young girl, Alice Liddell, who inspired his most famous creation. Kearney's lifelong passion for Carroll's work began as a young girl, when she starred as Carroll's heroine Alice in her local village play. She discusses the book with a range of experts, biographers and distinguished cultural figures - from the actor Richard E Grant to children's author Philip Pullman - and explores with them the mystery of how a retiring, buttoned-up and meticulous mathematics don, who spent almost his entire life within the cloistered confines of Christ Church Oxford, was able to capture the world of childhood in such a captivating way.

But what of its creator, the mild-mannered and unassuming Oxford University Math Don, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, aka. Lewis Carroll? Famed not only for his wonderful stories, Carroll is also known for his ambiguous relationship with the young girl who inspired his most beloved creation, Alice Liddell, a seemingly innocent infatuation that he documented in his pioneering photography. With contributions from the likes of thespian Richard E. Grant, social commentator Will Self and author Philip Pullman, at once adoring and provocative this documentary casts a conflicted eye over the creation of Wonderland. Pouring through historical evidence and stories passed down through generations, hear the tale of Carroll’s first encounter with the three Liddell girls and the first telling of Alice’s tumble down the rabbit hole one summer’s afternoon in a boat upon the River Thames. The Lolita Express to Lewis Carroll's Wonderland Exposed

46:11
“But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” Matthew 18:6 The Lolita Express is a slang term that’s been bestowed, primarily by conservatives, on the Boeing 727 owned by Jeffrey Epstein - Wikipedia when used to ferry people to his private island for sex parties. In 2008, Epstein was convicted of soliciting an underage prostitute. It has since come to light that Epstein was very much into young prostitutes, and at least some of them were underage, one as young as 14. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson 27 January 1832 – 14 January 1898, better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, was an English writer of world-famous children’s fiction, notably Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass. He was noted for his facility at word play, logic and fantasy. Lolita is a 1955 novel written by Russian-American novelist Vladimir Nabokov. The novel is notable for its controversial subject: the protagonist and unreliable narrator, a middle-aged literature professor under the pseudonym Humbert Humbert, is obsessed with a 12-year-old girl, Dolores Haze, with whom he becomes sexually involved after he becomes her stepfather. "Lolita" is his private nickname for Dolores. The novel was originally written in English and first published in Paris in 1955 by Olympia Press. Later it was translated into Russian by Nabokov himself and published in New York City in 1967 by Phaedra Publishers. Please do you own research on the content in the video. Hello. Today i am going to read a story called Alice In Wonderland. Once upon a time a little girl Alice was sitting on a tree. Her Aunty was reading Alice a book then Alice fell fast asleep and she was in her dream and she was chasing a white rabbit through a small cave. She clawed down and went on and then she fell but it was lucky that she had a dress and it opened and it opened and she floated down. She saw a chair and she sat on it and then a book floated past and she grabbed it. She read the book and then she slid off the chair and she said “why does this always happen to me.” She got down and she still chased the rabbit through a small door and she was so big. She turned the knob and it said “Ouch!” Alice said sorry. She said she needs to get to the white rabbit. “Sorry” said the door. “You have to drink the little bottle on top of the table.” Then something happened to Alice. She shrunk slowly. Then water came from nowhere. Then she fell down in the bottle and the door opened his mouth and the water took Alice to Wonderland and she saw some animals up ahead. She said “Excuse me Mr Bird.” But the bird did not hear her. Then the water began to bend down. She did not realise she was sitting on a toucans head. He said “Hello little girl. Where are you off to?”Then Alice said “Have you seen a white rabbit?” Mr Bird said “Yes, he went that way.” “Thank you” said Alice. “You are welcome.” said Mr Bird. Alice went into the woods and she cannot find him so she sat on a log and started to cry. Then all of a sudden two twins came popping up and the first brother was Beep and the second brother was called Bip. Beep said “Why are you crying?” Alice said “I can’t find the white rabbit. Have you seen the white rabbit?” They said “Yes. He went this way.” Alice went on to find the white rabbit and saw him running very fast. She said “Slow down Mr Rabbit.” “I can’t.” said the rabbit. “I’m running out of time. I’m late, I’m late, I’m late!” and he ran through a gate. Alice went in too. She saw a mad hatter and a brown rabbit and they were having a cup of tea and they asked the white rabbit to have one but he said he was late and he didn’t have time and kept running. Alice went too. The white rabbit went to see the evil queen and had to listen to her and she was mad! Alice heard the rabbit saying she was the best queen and this is her land and her soldiers are cards. The queen challenged Alice to a game of mini golf and the queen was always happy when she won. Then Alice woke up in a flash and her Aunty said “Let’s go home” Subscribe to our Cartoons for Kids Channel: https://goo.gl/uPjXWn #aliceinwonderland #fairytale #fairytales #fairytalestories #bedtimestories #story #stories #animatedstories #englishstories
PF016 A Boat Beneath The Sunny Sky - Lewis Carroll Special 01 (Activate subtitles)

02:47
The fantastic poem that Lewis Carroll wrote ( set to music ), in which he remembers, with nostalgia, how “ Alice In Wonderland “ came to life… The inception of “ Alice In Wonderland “ occurred by accident, when little girl Alice Liddel and other two little girls asked Charles Dodgson to tell them a story. It was one summer late afternoon, while on a boat trip. Lewis Carroll was an adult, but he was in love with a little girl, Alice. It seems that he had been in love with her all of his life. This poem, to which I added music, interpreted by Ciprian Rizea, written by Lewis Carroll years after having published his most famous tale, is fantastic. It reflects that yearning, that memory that kept him trapped in the past, like a daydream, in that happy late afternoon, with Alice and her friends. And that, as years passed, would never repeat the same. That evening, when he began the creation of one of the most popular and fantastic tales in history: “ Alice In Wonderland “. PORTFOLIO 016 - "A boat beneath the sunny sky" Letra: Lewis Carroll (1832-1898) Música: Juan Ramos - Voz: Ciprian Rizea Traducción a la lengua española: Raquel Lanseros www.raquellanseros.com Extraido del libro: Lewis Carroll Poemas - Valparaiso Ediciones A boat beneath a sunny sky A boat beneath a sunny sky, Lingering onward dreamily In an evening of July — Children three that nestle near, Eager eye and willing ear, Pleased a simple tale to hear — Long has paled that sunny sky: Echoes fade and memories die: Autumn frosts have slain July. Still she haunts me, phantomwise, Alice moving under skies Never seen by waking eyes. Children yet, the tale to hear, Eager eye and willing ear, Lovingly shall nestle near. In a Wonderland they lie, Dreaming as the days go by, Dreaming as the summers die: Ever drifting down the stream — Lingering in the golden gleam — Life, what is it but a dream?

Alice in Wonderland (2010) Growth and Shrinking Scene

04:31
Alice is on the verge of growing up and, in Wonderland, she experiences many bizarre physical changes. Being in Wonderland is unpredictable and disturbing at times, much like transforming from a child into an adult. In Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Alice changes size constantly. When she first arrives in Wonderland, she's too large to make it through the little door into the beautiful garden; after she drinks from the mysterious bottle, she's too small to reach the key. Once she eats the special cake, she's enormous, but the White Rabbit's fan makes her small again. In the rabbit's house, another bottle of mystery cordial makes her swell up and get stuck in the room; pebbles thrown in the window turn to cakes and eating them shrinks her. At this point, Alice meets the Caterpillar, who teaches her to use pieces of mushroom to control her size – nibbling a bit from one side to get larger and a bit from the other side to get smaller. Just when we think she's finally in control of her size, she begins growing in the courtroom, getting larger and larger until she eventually realizes that the characters around her are just a pack of cards. Why all these changes in size? What does it all mean? Well, we have to make the obvious connection between size, age, and maturity. Even back in the real world, Alice is constantly changing in size because she's a growing girl, getting a little bigger and a little older all the time. This is an arbitrary process that she can't control; all children grow up. (Unless you're reading a different book called Peter Pan.) It's also a process that makes Lewis Carroll, who was fond of children but not of adults, nervous. Alice changes size – and changes in relation to everyone around her – because Carroll wants to show us that growing up is unpredictable, sometimes just making you feel awkward, sometimes actually putting you or others around you in danger. In Through the Looking-Glass, Alice doesn't really change in size, although the chess pieces and game themselves grow large. However, Carroll draws our attention to her age and process of maturing. When Humpty Dumpty tells Alice, who is seven and a half, that she should have "left off at seven," he seems to be speaking Carroll's own thoughts. Couldn't she just stay a cute little girl, ready to listen to fairy tales, forever? Of course not – the only way to freeze your age in time is by dying!

Allah In Wonderland Part 1

09:33
Allah In Wonderland" (also known as "The 100th Name of Allah"), is a long story in my novel "Allah's New Black Rock" (Also known as "The Black Rock Redemption"). If this novel was the Mahabharata, "Allah In Wonderland" would be the Bhagadvad Gita. In this story, a Muslim who went up into the Black Rock Desert to test a bomb he made, gets trapped in quicksand with the dog he kidnapped, and, after days of being trapped, decides to take LSD he got from a prostitute in Reno. He was planning on taking the LSD ten minutes before obeying Quran 9:111, but, would ONLY take it then out of fear the LSD might make him crazy and blow his cover of planning an attack on a Reno casino. Due to being trapped on the Black Rock Desert, and, fearing NO one would ever find him, he decides to ingests the LSD. The LSD produces a very Lewis Carroll like situation for him. Instead of seeing a talking mock turtle and other Alice In Wonderland oddities, Rahman (the protagonist of the story), meets up with all the craziness depicted in both the Koran and hadith that is actually MORE bizarre than what Mr. Carroll/Dodgson could EVER imagine. He has his "mind expanded" and meets his version of Allah, Jibril, "Issa Son of Mary", the rock that ran off with Moses' clothing, the Al Baraq, talking ants, a little girl who grows a mile wide but, ALONG with the gigantic monster from the earth called "the Dabba" (that has a big bull head with elephant ears on an ostrich neck).

CREEPINESS!!! xD explanations here ↓↓ this video got a few reference from lewis carroll's works. reasons for the dolls are cause of carroll's liking to little girls, sole reason to why he wrote alice in wonderland. (LOLYES PEDO) the crocodile there, yes somewhere there. there should be a poem written by carroll 'how doth the little crocodile'. and since i forgot, the crocodile seems out of place FAIL alice in a jar, remember when carroll's alice shrunk? yes, that's the reason. the title: nightmare is represented as caterpillar in AIW. the first part is like an alternative where the blue caterpillar and alice met. it gives a curious feeling. for non-related references/explanations: why alice's eyes are hidden or replaced, 'the eyes are the window to the soul'. i just made her an empty shell. like a body w/o a soul, just a thing. i just replaced it with other eyes to give the emotion i wanted her to portray. since this is a rep mep, i've put all the emphasis on nightmare. well there's a lot i haven't explained cause i have no idea how to. but it all got reasons. the vid concludes curiousity, madness, suicide, scoptophobia, and nightmares woah, i'm turning into a deconstructionist! Dx - - - idk why i'm making it public it now(should be on the 31st). i'm bored and getting excited for the whole mep for this.

Alice Part one http://youtu.be/DFhvBl7OC3U http://www.victorianweb.org/authors/carroll/index.html if anyone were to have time to navigate and read this entire site, that would be awesome, there is a lot of research here and loads of insight into his life, political views, really it touches on just about everything, including the world around Carroll and Liddell http://www.google.com/imgres?start=348&num=10&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=923&addh=36&tbm=isch&tbnid=6nTNEc2aSCyj0M:&imgrefurl=http://behindbrushstrokes.wordpress.com/category/photo Photo of Alexandria Kitchin, Xie for short 7/14/1873, this would be one of the most recent pictures that he took, and to me looks very erotic, her shoulders and knees are bare, something that in Victorian England would have been deeply frowned upon. http://www.google.com/imgres?num=10&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=923&tbm=isch&tbnid=OqKMzhy6RNXvAM:&imgrefurl=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_Liddell&docid=xyfXEKn6n-4nIM&imgurl=http://upload.wikime the same sort of photo, this is Alice Liddell, the little girl that pestered Carroll into writing down the story that he told her and her sisters while traveling down the Isis river...the pictures that he took of girls were all very provocative, with bare shoulders, uncovered feet and ankles, the pictures showed about as much skin as we are allowed to show now on small children. They def pushed the envelope. Check me out on twitter https://twitter.com/#!/zordbasecommand email me at [email protected] check me out on twitchtv http://www.justin.tv/zordbasecommander

Allah In Wonderland, part 2

14:03

The girls and Dodgson took another boat trip a month later when he elaborated the plot to the story of Alice, and in November he began working on the manuscript in earnest. To add the finishing touches he researched natural history for the animals presented in the book, and then had the book examined by other children—particularly the children of George MacDonald. He added his own illustrations but approached John Tenniel to illustrate the book for publication, telling him that the story had been well liked by children. On 26 November 1864 he gave Alice the handwritten manuscript of Alice's Adventures Under Ground, with illustrations by Dodgson himself, dedicating it as "A Christmas Gift to a Dear Child in Memory of a Summer's Day". Some, including Martin Gardner, speculate there was an earlier version that was destroyed later by Dodgson when he wrote a more elaborate copy by hand. But before Alice received her copy, Dodgson was already preparing it for publication and expanding the 15,500-word original to 27,500 words, most notably adding the episodes about the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Tea-Party. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland 150th Anniversary Edition by Lewis Carroll

02:58
Commemorating the 150th anniversary of one of the most beloved classics of children’s literature, this illustrated edition presents Alice like you’ve never seen her before. In 1865, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, an Oxford mathematician and Anglican deacon, published a story about a little girl who tumbles down a rabbit hole. Thus was the world first introduced to Alice and her pseudonymous creator, Lewis Carroll. This beautiful new edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland features rarely seen illustrations by Salvador Dalí that illuminate the surreal yet curiously logical and mathematical realm into which Alice famously falls. In an informative and wide-ranging introduction, Carroll expert Mark Burstein discusses Dalí’s connections with Carroll, his treatment of the symbolic figure of Alice, and the mathematical nature of Wonderland. In addition, mathematician Thomas Banchoff reflects on the friendship he shared with Dalí and explores the mathematical undercurrents in Dalí’s work.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) is a novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells the story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit-hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar and anthropomorphic creatures. The tale is filled with allusions to Dodgson's friends. The tale plays with logic in ways that have given the story lasting popularity with adults as well as children. It is considered to be one of the most characteristic examples of the genre of literary nonsense, and its narrative course and structure has been enormously influential, mainly in the fantasy genre. The book is commonly referred to by the abbreviated title Alice in Wonderland, an alternative title popularized by the numerous stage, film and television adaptations of the story produced over the years. Some printings of this title contain both Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There.

The Lion King's Linda Woolverton provides the script, with Hollywood heavyweights Richard Zanuck and Joe Roth heading up the production team. Johnny Depp co-stars as The Mad Hatter, in the Walt Disney Productions picture. 19-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror. Christ Church Cathedral Eucharist

02:02
If you follow these posts you know that we just returned from England. So this week’s song is from western culture – specifically a western church music culture with music written by the English composer, Ralph Vaughn Williams (d.1958). This is just the first two minutes or so of the Communion Service in D as experienced at Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford, England on Thursday August 6th, 2015. (the length was determined by the available memory on Mary Lu’s cell phone!) Doug was in Oxford to present an academic paper at a conference entitled, “Christian Congregational Music.” The topic of his presentation included the musical transformations occurring in a church planting ministry in Odisha, India, a ministry that is a partner of Freedom to Lead, International. In addition to presenting the paper, Doug and Mary Lu were able to have many conversations about the work of Freedom to Lead with those attending the conference. A few notes about the photos. For you Harry Potter fans out there you may recognize that Christ Church College is the model for Hogwarts; this includes the grassy courtyard and the great hall, all of which was detailed here and remade in a Hollywood studio. The only actual shot of this campus was taken on the steps – hence our photo taken there as well. For you Alice in Wonderland fans, the outdoor shot of the tall, arched, white-framed window is the window from which professor Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) watched as the Dean’s young girls, Lorina, Edith and Alice would often play in the yard of the deanery. It was on an outing with the dean’s family that Dodgson created the Alice in Wonderland story as a means of entertaining the girls throughout the day. You can see the connection to the formal demands of high and proper English society – and the desire of a young girl to escape these demands. One of the stained glass windows in the cathedral was remade to include the characters from Carroll’s now-famous book. Some have said that the fireplace andirons (or dogs) in the shape of a long-necked cat (see photo of Mary Lu in fireplace) inspired the Cheshire cat of the story. The wooden angelic musicians are the carved ends of the choir pews. The choir of St John’s Episcopalian Church in Tallahassee, FL was in residence to lead the services that week – an excellent ensemble. Those attending the conference were invited to sing the part of the congregation. For this reason Mary Lu’s and my voices can be heard over the congregation (our apologies!). I wanted you to have a taste of this worship service (it was an hour and 15 minutes long - you have two minutes). The music was glorious – you will have to imagine the resonant acoustics as the recording does not do the hall justice. All the musicians were excellent and the text and musical setting of Vaughn William’s service was inspiring and worshipful. If you are still reading . . . this was a surreal evening for me. I kept thinking about this setting – a school with a tremendous history dating to its founding in 1546; producing philosopher John Locke, religious leaders John Wesley and William Penn and the writers W.H. Auden and Lewis Carroll. Albert Einstein also studied here in the 1930s. I was now surrounded by top scholars from elite institutions around the world (18 countries, 5 continents); a reception in Dean Martyn Percy's home and yard (once the royal palace of King Charles 1), singing with the choir for a sung Eucharist service, relishing in a magnificent pipe organ, artfully played, worshipping God and remember my Lord’s death through the eucharist service. I kept wondering – how did I get here? Whose life is this? It didn’t seem like my life right at that moment – more like something in a dream, something borrowed from someone else’s life. I attempted to soak in those moments, to expand my capacity to remember; time will tell if I was successful. I am truly grateful to God for that evening. In parting I wish to thank the musicology department at The Ohio State University for encouraging me to submit a proposal for this conference, and for an OSU financial grant that helped offset some of the costs. Thanks also to all of you who support our ministry financially, the remainder of our expenses were covered by the conference portion of our annual personal budget. We don’t know what connections God will bring from this endeavor but we believe God has some very cool surprises in store.

Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland

01:37
The fantastical tale of a young girl chasing her White Rabbit has delighted children since Lewis Carroll wrote it generations ago. Here his Wonderland shines anew, viewed through the looking glasses of two incomparable artists.Mary Blair's vibrant art helped shape the look of Walt Disney's classic animated film. Collected in a picture book for the first time, her illustrations capture the essence of such memorable characters as the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter with stunning immediacy. Jon Scieszka's captivating text celebrates all that is curious?and all that is nonsensical?about the world that holds Alice spellbound, from a deliciously absurd tea party to the spectacle of a kingdom of playing cards . Brimming with wit and wonder, this sparkling retelling will enchant readers from the moment Alice falls down the rabbit hole, whether or not they've made the journey before.

Tarts - performed by Erutan

04:06
Melody, arrangement, and performance by Erutan Tarts © 2018 Erutan Hi everyone, long time no see! This is a silly little track from the album I'm working on. Things kept going awry during this project making it take much longer than it should have to release. Still, I've been working on many tracks for the new album, so regardless of my long break from uploading, I've been a good girl! If you would like to support my music, you can purchase a copy of the track on iTunes or Bandcamp, or simply listen to my music here on Youtube and Spotify! Every little bit helps and I really appreciate it! Bandcamp: https://erutan.bandcamp.com/track/tarts iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/tarts-single/1444228166?ign-mpt=uo%3D4 The poem 'Tarts' appeared in 'Alice in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll in 1865, but is actually much older. (I think there's a record of it appearing in a publication in the 1700's) The author is lost to time. Kevin and I filmed this in a beautiful garden, about an hour away, but since it is privately owned we had to film in just a few rushed trips so as not to wear out our welcome or annoy anyone. If I look frazzled and sweaty in any shots, it's possibly because I was frazzled and sweaty....and we forgot stuff we needed. yay! Oh, and I made the dresses, in case you can't tell from all the loose threads! The Queen's dress took me a few months to make. Please take the time to appreciate the hundreds of bead pearls I sewed onto the skirt. ;_; Cheers!

Billy Williams - 'Dreamchild': the darkroom scene (136/172)

02:37
Born in London in 1929, cinematographer Billy Williams shot more than 40 high profile films throughout his career, being nominated for an Oscar for ‘On Golden Pond’ and ‘Women in Love’, then winning the Oscar for ‘Gandhi’ in 1983. He received an OBE in 2009. [Listener: Neil Binney] TRANSCRIPT: Lewis Carroll was a very noted photographer, and there's a scene in a darkroom which we shot in a makeshift studio in Oxford as a weather cover, and we had a window with a backing and the scene starts in daylight and Lewis Carroll, played by Ian Holm, and the little girl are together alone in this small darkroom and he's got all the equipment, the period equipment, which we borrowed from the... the photographic establishment, so it was all authentic. And it starts in daylight; he draws the blind and it... it goes into almost darkness. He lights the match and lights a candle so it goes from white light to yellow light and then he picks up a red filter, which was an authentic red lamp filter, and places the red lamp over the candle and the rest of the scene is played in red light, so I'd got the trans... transformation with three different coloured lights and three different exposures, all in the one shot, and in order to do it I had to cut... cut a hole in the side of the set, just under the candle, to get the light in and that worked very well. But it's a scene where you are wondering what kind of man Carroll is, because there's been some doubt over the years whether he was a paedophile, and this is a theme which runs through the film which, in the original script was quite sort of pronounced, but when it came to the editing stage, they... they cut a lot of scenes which had references to, you know, him and young children, so that in the final film, it's sort of just there, but not in a very obvious way. So we had this scene in... in the... in the red light with this mature man and this little girl and she’s... he's asking her about whether she will get married when she's older and... and will she... will she invite him round and give him cucumber sandwiches and... it's beautifully sensitively played scene, Ian is such a lovely actor, and you never for a moment felt scared for the little girl, but in the context with the rest of the film, you know, the audience are given sort of, clues as to, you know, what kind of man he was really like, but as I say, it was a lovely film.
