Well, today I'm delivering! This will be a 2 part series where today, we'll design the UI in Adobe Experience Design, and tomorrow (promptly at 10:30 AM ET), we'll tackle HTML and CSS (without the use of any CSS frameworks). It doesn’t matter what business, market, or industry you’re in, your business needs a website. But not just any website will do. After all, your businesses website is often your customers first point of contact with your brand and is the central hub for all your digital marketing activities. It’s also a controlled and owned piece of digital real estate which makes it extra special in today’s sea of rented and borrowed attention that comes along with using social media. The sad reality is that like many other pieces of the marketing puzzle, websites seem to get pushed to the bottom of the priority list, and are only ever invested in when something breaks, or the information on them is so outdated and useless that something simple must be done. So to help you avoid this here are 7 elements to an effective website so your site can get back to doing what it was meant to do all along – make you money. The Gestalt Principles | Basics for Beginners

The Gestalt Principles are a series of hypothesis defined by German Psychologists in the 1920s. They state that 'the whole is something else than the sum of it's parts' and break down how relationships between design elements are formed and interpreted by the human mind. Thanks for watching! Design Theory: How To Make Dynamic Compositions

14:48
How to make your motion design frames more dimensional. Create dynamic compositions with this one trick. One tip to make your designs more impactful. One simple tip for how to make your designs, photos, and illustrations better. Blind creative director, Matthew Encina, joins Chris Do in this quick tutorial/lesson on creating more dynamic compositions. To keep things simple and clearly illustrate what I mean, I’ve put together a few greyscale examples that show how adding contrast to your frames can drastically improve your compositions and effectiveness of your storytelling. If you ever find yourself stuck with a boring composition, push the contrast in the value, weight, size, and color of your subjects. Start drastically, then pull it back. One formula I like to use often is: 1 really BIG object — usually the subject, and most important element in the frame. 1–2 medium sized objects — secondary elements to give meaning to the main object. Tons of very tiny objects — tertiary elements to give movement and additional context for the frame. 08:08
WE'RE STARTING A DESIGN CLUB, COME JOIN US: http://rtweek.com/ Here's my tablet: https://amzn.to/2PmmytS Here's my camera: https://amzn.to/2vTpuG8 Hey design champions, today we are challenged to create a landing page for a Swedish watch company with photoshop. We start the process by deciding what kind of watch we will be presenting in our landing page design. After some research we start the design by sketching out a layout for our web site. After a sketch of the landing page layout is complete, we continue by editing images to act as key art on our website design. We finish the page design in adobe photoshop with a lot of image editing and color blocking to bring our landing page design together. I hope you enjoyed the process and thanks for watching! https://www.facebook.com/zimrimayfield/ http://www.zimrimayfield.com/ instagram: @zimmayfield

Wordpress Web Design tutorial: designing your top level web page templates

09:29
Get my blueprint cheat sheet here http://bit.ly/webblueprints. In this video I'll cover the main assets to a web page including page navigation, banners, sidebar design, footer, and body page specs. I'll include things like word count, keyword saturation, video placement, and outbound links as well as links to other videos on similar topics. Don't forget to share this video with your friends who are struggling with website design! For every subscriber, YouTube pays me a piece of chicken and a can of beans so PLEASE Subscribe to my channel: http://bit.ly/XkdbXS --------------------------- Video Notes: ************************1. Create templates************************ Now a, a big problem that I see with business owners and like clients that hire me and, and other Wordpress web designers is for every page, they're designing like, a new page. You know, it's like well, we need to add a new page to our website. It's like, oh great, I gotta design a whole nother page. Now it doesn't work that way, you need to be creating templates and a lot of website, website themes today support a template based system. So what we do is we create a series of templates that you can now export to the rest of your pages. But it's still important that those templates. ************************2. Top level Navigation************************ First of all, and of course, you know, like you're, you're always, this could be your social media links up here. This could be like your phone number, or an email button. You know, having those, always able to contact me, buttons, I think is a good idea. Up here you've got your navigation tabs. Now, when I first started in this, it was kind of like the thinking that you should have seven navigation tabs. I don't agree with that anymore. I think that you need to have like four or five, tops, and they need to be very simple. Every single one of them should be directed at converting a viewer to sale. So you don't need one of these navigation tabs to say home. Right? Cuz typically your logo will lead you home. You, you need it to say something like, About Us. What we offer. How to work with us. And our blog. Something like that. Wordpress web design tutorial Designing a top level web page template ************************3. Sidebar and Footer************************ I believe in side bars. Some people are doing like this whole page design, that's okay. That's fine. If that's the, the intent of your site. I like side bars because it enable me to, to engage with the viewer in different ways. Use related pages for your web design- It might be helpful to have YouTube. You know, YouTube marketing. Landing page videos. Video production. Video bumpers. You know? Maybe even a tag that says, what are you looking for? And then underneath that I have a little circle there. Which I typically use to represent a testimonial. So maybe you've got. A Wordpress testimonial widget right in there, where it's, every time it's refreshed, a new testimonial pops up, right. So you're engaging with the viewer that way. You might even have like social media links on, experimenting with an Instagram box. We'll see how that turns out. Let's go to your, I'll come up to the main page last, go to your footer. Your footer here is a huge resource. I like to have a three or four box footer that maybe has, like, you know, a summary about us, maybe our social links and then, maybe, like, a schedule, like schedule with me, or a work with me, right. And this could be an image. Maybe it looks like a contact box, but it's an image, and when you click it. It will go back to that work with us page, see. And then maybe in here you've got something you like your blog roll. Right? So your, your latest and greatest blogs. Or maybe it's like your most popular blogs which you know, you can, you can work that out with some plug ins. ************************4: Main Page************************ In your main page or top level design page, your main body, let's go back to that. Okay, we said about 400 words. But look at how I have it structured. I have an image up at the top and then I have some text right next to it. Now underneath that I have more text. Underneath that I have some bullet points. So basically what you have here is you've got, you know, everything you really need to convert that viewer. Right up here, right up there. And then you're gonna say something like let's dig into that a little bit more because you don't want them necessarily moving off of your page, right? --------------------------- For more information: WEB: http://thevideospot.net TW: http://www.twitter.com/owenhemsath FB: http://www.fb.com/yourvideospot

Improving Web and Mobile App Typography - 5 basic guidelines

06:49
One of my goals this year is to digest important concepts in design and then try to explain them in a concise, easy-to-follow format. My first attempt is on typography. I studied from the best and I was able to list five essential principles to improve the typographic quality of your web and mobile app products in this video. I hope you like it—your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Here are five essential practical guidelines to improve your typographic quality of your web and mobile product designs. 1. Start by choosing your body text typeface. 2. Try to avoid mixing typefaces. 3. Watch your line length. 4. Balance line height and point size. 5. Use proper Apostrophes and Dashes. I plan to go more into detail in a crash course on typography that I’ll publish here. We’ll talk about the difference between typefaces and fonts, how to choose the right type, where to discover good typography, pairing typefaces, and more conceptual stuff. In the meantime, check out these awesome resources: RESOURCES: To find fonts for the web and mobile apps https://typekit.com/ https://fonts.google.com/ Typewolf, a great source of inspiration and resources https://www.typewolf.com/ Just My Type, learning how to mix typefaces http://www.justmytype.co/ Jessica Hische’s fantastic guide on type for the web http://jessicahische.is/talkingtype Professional web typography by Donny Truong https://prowebtype.com/ Butterick’s Practical Typography http://practicaltypography.com Style Manual by Andy Taylor http://stylemanual.org/ Fonts have feelings too, by Mikael Cho (great read) https://medium.com/who-what-why/fonts-have-feelings-too-1523564d966c#.boqxndw40

Google I/O 2014 - Design principles for a better mobile web

43:34
Speaker(s): Jennifer Gove Description: Many websites still provide a poor experience on mobile, and so we wanted to develop an in-depth understanding of what differentiates a great and an inferior mobile experience. Our work has resulted in the development of a set of user experience principles for mobile website design. The principles illustrate how to create experiences that support conversion on mobile, whether that be for a purchase, a quote or a lead. The principles have been developed out of a study that Google User Experience Research conducted in partnership with AnswerLab - a user research consultancy. We studied 100 sites with diversity across size and vertical, and held 119 in-person, one-hour usability sessions with Android and iOS smartphone users. We instructed participants to perform key conversion-focused tasks, such as purchasing an item, booking a reservation, or researching plans or prices. This presentation will illustrate key principles for designing a better mobile web. Watch all Google I/O 2014 videos at: g.co/io14videos

Principles of effective web designs

00:41
How a website looks is undoubtedly important, but another aspect that is equally or many times more important is the usability of the website. However good or attractive a website might look, if it is difficult and time-consuming to use, then the users might get distracted, thus reducing the popularity of the brand. Having a user-centric website design that caters to the consumers’ needs and requirements can be considered as the best and successful web design. for more details visit: http://www.wittycookie.com/new-york-web-design.html

DrupalCon Nashville 2018: Principles of Content Layout

38:20
Every website is ultimately valued for its content. But once you have the content, how do you convince people to read it? How do you best support the reader, control the flow of their content experience, and direct them to the actions that are most important to you? To solve these problems you need a solid layout strategy, supported by design principles that existed long before websites. We'll briefly go over the history of page layout design going back over a century, then come back to modern times and current trends in website layout. Finally, we'll use the upcoming Layout Builder in Drupal 8 to create a page putting these design principles into action.
