Chris Lee, product manager at Dropbox, reveals his experience working in product management and how he got the job.
Chris talks about the job description and requirements and what day to day is like in product management at one of the hottest and most successful tech startups out there today.
He also shares what likes about the job (including working across multiple teams internally and externally) and his career trajectory starting at Apple as a project manager which then led him to start his own company and then landed him a product management job at Dropbox.
To perform the product management job, Chris shares the daily product management tools that help him do his job like: Google Docs (for feature specs, planning out schedules), HipChat (for team communications) and GChat (for team communications).
When it comes to designing and prototyping, Chris works with a very skilled team of designers. They rely on tools like Sketch to build static mockups and Framer.js to build interactive mockups. Interactive mockups are much cheaper and a great way to build and validate a product before investing time and resources to build the actual product.
