Use a CSS Class to Style an Element, freeCodeCamp review html & css

06:14
This challenge introduces CSS classes. A class allows you to specify which elements you want to receive certain styles. This comes in handy when you do not want to apply the same style to like elements. For example, you might want to apply a style to your first heading tag and to your first paragraph tag. And a different style to your second heading tag, and paragraph tag. You can give the first 2 tags the same class which contains the specific style you want applied. While the next heading and paragraph can have a different style applied through their specific class. Class names are created by you, so give them good ones.

freeCodeCamp Basic CSS, Change Element Colors,Class Selector, Font Degradation 3

18:11
This is the first part of freeCodeCamps Basic CSS course. We go through changing the color of text. We learn that we can apply a color style within individual elements by using the style attribute. We then learn that we can create a style tag and closing tag and place our styles within the opening and closing style tag. We also learn about classes and using them to select certain elements and apply a style to any element with that class. We learn about font-family and how odegradation works. This means that we can specify multiple font families so if one isnt available, another one can be used. In the next videos we will see how to add an external stylesheet so we can keep our HTML and CSS seperate.

Bootstrap table classes

bootstrap table styles bootstrap table hover bootstrap table condensed bootstrap table border bootstrap table responsive bootstrap table example bootstrap table striped example bootstrap table with border bootstrap condensed table bootstrap responsive table example bootstrap table contextual classes example In this video we will discuss styling tables using bootstrap classes. table class provides light padding and horizontal lines table-striped class provides zebra-striping for the table rows table-bordered class provide borders on all sides of the table and cells. table-hover class provides highlighting of rows on hover table-condensed class makes table more compact by cutting cell padding in half To make a table responsive, place the table inside a div element, and apply table-responsive class on the div element. This will provide a horizontal scrollbar when the screen size is less than 768px (i.e on a small device). On a screen size larger than 768px you will not find any difference. Applying the table-responsive class directly on the table will not do anything useful. Use the bootstrap contextual classes to colour the table rows Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2016/06/bootstrap-table-classes.html Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1

Notice div1 has 2 classes - small and big. [html] [head] [title][/title] [script src="Scripts/jquery-1.11.2.js"][/script] [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('.small').css('border', '5px solid red'); }); [/script] [/head] [body] [div class="small big"] DIV 1 [/div] [br /] [div class="small"] DIV 2 [/div] [/body] [/html] Selects all elements that has both the classes - small and big. There should be no space between the class names. [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('.small.big').css('border', '5px solid red'); }); [/script] If you have a space between the two class names then we are trying to find descendants, i.e. find elements with class big that are descendants of an element with class small. [html] [head] [title][/title] [script src="Scripts/jquery-1.11.2.js"][/script] [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('.small .big').css('border', '5px solid red'); }); [/script] [/head] [body] [div class="small big"] DIV 1 [/div] [br /] [div class="small"] DIV 2 [div class="big"] DIV 3 [/div] [/div] [/body] [/html] Another way to selects all elements that has both the classes - small and big is by using filter method. But this approach is slower because it will first create a list of objects with class "small" and then removes elements that does not have class "big" [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('.small').filter('.big').css('border', '5px solid red'); }); [/script]

How to Edit the CSS Styles on Gantry 5 RocketTheme Templates - A How to Edit Joomla CSS Tutorial

05:03
Here is how to modify the CSS for your entire Rocket Theme Template. Subscribe Today! ► https://goo.gl/Y3wTy5 Modifying the Joomla template on your site is fairly simple if you are using a template from RocketTheme.com (they have a few free ones for use as well.) This tutorial will show you how to easily change the CSS tags on your Gantry 5 RocketTheme Joomla Template. Tools used in the tutorial are: Gantry and Hydrogen Template for Joomla 3.4+ - found at: http://www.gantry-framework.org/download Here is the text of the subtitles for this video: Hi, I'm Tim Davis from Cybersalt's Basic Joomla channel. I really like the templates that RocketTheme puts out. Their Gantry 5 system makes it super easy to customize the CSS to fit my style and your style. That's what this tutorial is about. Let's head on over to the computer and check it out. Before we get started, apologies for a little bit of garbally audio in that intro; it's the first video I've used the green screen on and I'm still setting things up. But, let's get back to the point here. In order to customize the CSS of a template template using gantry 5 you first need to create a folder inside the template folder to put your custom CSS. So, let's see how to do that first. I'm already logged into my cpanel account and the file manager where this Basic Joomla site is installed and what you want to do is go to the templates folder, go into there and you want to go into the folder that has the same name of the template that you want to customize CSS for. In this case it is the Gantry 5 Hydrogen; G5 Hydrogen. Go into that folder and then you want to go into the custom folder. Now, I just want to point out we're gonna be creating a folder called SCSS there's already one that exists in the template folder, but this is not the one that we're looking for. What we want to do is go into the custom folder and then we're going to create a folder called SCSS. Once we've created the SCSS folder we're going to then go into it and we're going to create a new file this time and that file is going to be named custom .scss. And we'll create that file. Now, that's an empty file, let's get some CSS to customize and put in there. I'm going to the homepage of Basic Joomla right now, I have it set up with the default Gantry 5 page, and change the color of this font here. I'm using Chrome so I'm going to use hit f12 to bring up the element inspector and I'm going to click this arrow and scroll then we'll select this text here. We'll see that getting started is - as we see down here - it's a heading 1 and heading one here is the colored grey. Now I can click this button and I can change the color - you'll notice it will change up here - to something that I want and you will also notice that you sort of get a magnifying glass you can pick a color that's on the screen. This is great for matching up existing colors in the theme or as you're doing your work along. So why don't we just select this purple here, I'll mouse over it click on it, and I click outside of here and go back down, here we have heading one; color is purple. Now, this css, this code here, I'm just going to left click and drag and select it and go CTRL-C to copy it. Now we then go to the .SCSS custom page that we made. We're going to, right click, go edit and now I'm going to paste CSS information in there. Now, if I want to change the color of heading 1, heading 2 to that purple that we selected back here, then I would leave the CSS like this. But let's just change it for heading 1. And basically we've pasted that code in there. We'll save our changes. Now, I'm going to go quickly into the back end of the Joomla site here and click the clean cache button - I use Regular Labs' cache manager - that will clean the cache and that guarantees that now when I refresh this page heading 1 is purple. We can even close the inspector and basically you're all set up to look for other CSS that you want to customize and once you get a hold of the code that you want and set it in the manner that I just showed you you would then go back and add it to your custom .SCSS file. So there you have it; that's how to edit the CSS and a template that's being run on Gantry 5. I hope this tutorial was helpful for you. If it was why not give it a thumbs up or even subscribe to the channel? Thanks for watching and enjoying working on your Joomla sites - God bless. freeCodeCamp's Use the CSS Transform scale Property to Scale an Element on Hover

01:53
In this lesson from freeCodeCamp's Applied Visual Design section we look at a the transform property once again. We practice with the scale function on a div. This one is different than the last lesson because the scale function will only run :hover (on hover). We use the on hover pseudo class on our div to only apply the style on hover. Using this pseudo class can allow us to add cool visuals to our page. Practice and don't be afraid to experiment.

Bootstrap Grid System

10:38
bootstrap 3 grid example bootstrap 3 grid system bootstrap 3 columns layout bootstrap grid system example bootstrap 3 page layout bootstrap page layout examples bootstrap 3 layout examples bootstrap page layout tutorial bootstrap grid layout tutorial bootstrap column layout how to use bootstrap 3 grid system In this video we will discuss, How to create page layouts using bootstrap grid system. One of the very important concept that we need to understand in Bootstrap is it's Grid System. The Grid system is used for creating page layouts through a series of rows and columns. The Grid System consists of 12 columns. This grid system is so flexible that you can create any page layout that you want. Let us now see how to create a 3 column layout using the Bootstrap Grid System. The page should be divided into 3 columns with 1:4:1 ratio. One important thing to keep in mind here is that, if we add the 3 numbers in the ratio (1:4:1), the sum should be equal to 12, because the bootstrap grid system consists of 12 columns. This means if the LEFT SIDE BAR column is 2 units, the MAIN CONTENT AREA column should be 8 units and the RIGHT SIDE BAR column should be 2 units. So when we add these 3 numbers (2 Units + 8 Units + 2 Units), we get 12 units. Bootstrap includes several grid classes for creating layouts for different devices like mobile phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, etc. The table below shows the available bootstrap grid classes that you can use to create grid column layouts ranging from extra small devices like mobile phones to large devices like large desktop screens. We will discuss these different classes in detail with examples in a later video. For now let's use .col-md-* class to create a 3 column layout. There are 3 simple steps to create the 3 column layout that we want, using the bootstrap 12 column grid system 1. First, create a container. We do this by creating a [div] element using the bootstrap .container class. All the rows will be within this container. 2. Second, create a row within the container. We do this by creating a [div] element using the bootstrap .row class. 3. Finally within the row we create the 3 columns that we need. We do this by creating [div] elements using any of the bootstrap grid classes (.col-xs-*, .col-sm-*, .col-md-* & .col-lg-*). In this example we are using col-xs-* class. Please note that here I am also using a custom class (.customDiv) to apply some custom styles to each of the div elements. [div class="container"] [div class="row"] [div class="col-md-2"] [div class="customDiv"]LEFT SIDE BAR[/div] [/div] [div class="col-md-8"] [div class="customDiv"]MAIN CONTENT AREA[/div] [/div] [div class="col-md-2"] [div class="customDiv"]RIGHT SIDE BAR[/div] [/div] [/div] [/div] Here is the definition of the custom css class (.customDiv) .customDiv{ margin:3px; min-height:300px; background-color:silver; text-align:center; font-size:large } I have created this class in a stylesheet that I named CustomStyles.css. I have placed this in the root folder of the project. Some important points to keep in mind when working with the bootstrap grid system to create page layouts 1. Rows must be placed within a container for proper alignment and padding. 2. Use rows to create horizontal groups of columns. 3. Content should be placed within columns, and only columns may be immediate children of rows. 4. If more than 12 columns are placed within a single row, each group of extra columns will, as one unit, wrap onto a new line. 5. Grid columns are created by specifying the number of twelve available columns you wish to span. For example, to create four equal columns we would use four .col-xs-3. css classes in web design

07:28
When you are designing a website, it's essential to be able to implement a consistent style across the entire website. This can be tough if you don't know about or understand css classes. Css classes are great! you can apply a class to any div or element in a website, and it will take on the attributes that you specify in your stylesheet. Before classes, you'd have to create tons of div id's if you want to create any type of variation to an element. This got old quickly, it was a pain, and if you wanted to go back and edit your stylesheet, that was an undertaking of its own. In the video below, I talk about Css classes, and how you can use css classes to apply certain styles across multiple elements, such as a div or a heading tag.
