This is my vimeo film school video. Excuse the bad quality, I did not have anyone to video take me on my video camera so my webcam was the best option. I have taken it upon myself to go ahead and edit this video by adding transitions, titles, and even added in a song
Prior to reviewing the Vimeo film school, I had no idea that there were so many options for creating a personal film. First of all, I did not realize that smartphones were commonly used for videos. I just recently got a smart phone myself, so I do not really have many videos. I have seen videos on Youtube that people take, and at the end of it they’ll mention that they were using a smartphone so the quality may be bad. I did not realize that people used smartphone for professional videos or anything like that. I always thought that smartphones were reserved for videos of a family cat or a dog, or something along those lines. I do not really take videos on my phone, I have an iPhone 4, but I had a flip phone for a really long time. I have taken videos of personal things with my smart phone, such as my cat, but I have never tried to film any projects or anything with it before.
I do have a video camera from my childhood that I use a lot more. This camera takes pretty decent videos, so I tend to use that instead of my smart phone. When I was looking at the different camera options, I was surprised at how many options there were. For example, right now I am using my web camera that is installed into my computer, it is not one of the clip on ones. I am sure that the quality of this video will not be great, but it is one of my only options.
After reading the vimeo film school information I decided to conduct a little experiment between my smartphone and my video camera. I went outside and I took pictures of trees, flowers, and grass and other stuff. Some of the images were really far away and then others were more up close. I tried to get the same exact view from each device. When I try to zoom in on my smartphone I noticed that the image does get kind of grainy and you are unable to see very much detail, at least on the iPhone 4. Then I zoomed in on the photos from my video camera, and it turns out that my video camera takes really good pictures. When I zoomed in on those pictures I could see the details and they were sharp and focused, and I was able to see things in the background that I was not trying to take pictures of. I probably would not have used my video camera to take images if I had not looked at the vimeo film school information. I learned a lot from just the information on that site.
I also took a look at the Youtube editor that was linked, and I learned a lot from that. I had no clue how to edit my Youtube videos though I have done school projects on Youtube before. I had no idea how to insert the title or transition, or even adding on music. After viewing that video, I am definitely going to be editing this video a lot, in order to practice with it. I am excited about all of the new information that I have learned, and I will certainly be using it. The vimeo film school was very useful.
